  • Strong effort.

I have a bronze medal from the British International Taekwondo Championships 2015.

There were two other competitors in my age category.

  • I'm doing the H25/1 tomorrow.

Am I being stupid by thinking about gearing up for it? It looks relatively flat and fast and I've borrowed a 13t cog so I could go up to 104". I haven't had time to train on this gearing, but when I first geared up to 98" it was the same scenario and was a big improvement on some courses.

I got a 25 time I was really pleased with the other week and I don't necessarily expect to beat it again this year, but it is quite a long way to drive to experiment in a race.

  • Just base it on the average speed you want to achieve (if you've not ridden the course find someone on stava that's got a similar time to yours on a course you've both ridden) plus your preferred cadence. Then add 4".

  • I undergeared for the E2/25 a month ago. It was well annoying.

  • Last 25 I did at 26mph, which was alright. 104" gives 28mph at 90rpm, but I don't know whether I'd sustain that or just be grinding away.

I saw @xavierdisley on 114" on the E2/25 but he's a bit more experienced than me.

  • Is that on the A4 between Thatcham and Theale?

  • It is indeed.

  • I've ridden that. Think it was my PB course for a while before I moved away from H courses.
It had a little lump in the middle which is annoying but it's pretty decent generally. I'd always gear up if I was riding fixed.

  • As @hippy says, there's one small incline, otherwise it's almost pan flat. I cut my TT'ing teeth on the 10 course there and I reckon you'd be fine gearing up.

  • Might as well

  • Not blaming you guys, but I geared up and had a horrible time out there.

    It was far too hot.

Also, has anyone tried riding with their extensions pointing down like this?

I tried it for the second half of the ride. Wouldn't recommend it.

  • has anyone tried riding with their extensions pointing down

  • I've just seen from Strava that I did 22:48 over the H10/1 section of the course, which would be a PB for me by nearly 30 seconds. Probably why I was so fucked for the rest.

  • That position.

Look how vertical his lower back is.

    And those (fore)arm rests.

  • 3cm compliant though

  • 3cm compliant

Hard to make a case that he complies with Reg.14.d.i though.

  • Industrial quantities of EPO can overcome poor aerodynamics.

  • Good luck in the 100 today @umop3pisdn and anyone else riding it!

  • Thanks, it was a tough day. Well done to @Sainsburys_Ed on his first sub-4 with 3:57ish.

I was on 3:55 pace and blew in the second half like most of the field due to heat and dehydration - new 'closest to 4hrs' pb though with a 4:00:08. Ho hum.

A lot of dnfs from the fast boys and girls but it looks like Kieron Davies with a 3:23 and Alice Lethbridge with 3:48. Crazy times.

  • I have previous form, 4:00:11 and a 4:00:56. 3:49 pb from 2015 stands though.

  • 4:00:08

First on fixed? 19s ahead of Bullyment, and I doubt whether @staggy was on fixed today.

  • Yeah I think so. There was a third rider on fixed but he crashed after forgetting he was on fixed.
