  • Nice one, always best to HTFU and carry on (unless you are going to cause an injury to get worse). I did my first TT for 2 months last weekend, a 50 no less, which considering I'd only ridden four 10s so far this year (one of those was on NYD) was quite a jump. After 10 miles my legs were screaming, thought about bailing after the first lap, but got better as the ride went on. Ended up also riding the 36 miles home, it was a good day in the end.

Although saying that, my gooch is still a bit bust!!

  • umop3pisdn

staggy (who wins best bike award IMHO)

Then one of Rob Bullyment of Catford CC as he is also riding fixed

  • How long left for them?

  • I think first rider was off at 7 so not long!

  • K-Zero is such a nice bike. Those cranks too!

  • I'd take the Cervelo

  • 271 on my Garmin

  • Kinell. Awesome effort.

  • Miles or kilometres?

Well done, impressive effort on a tough day.

  • Matching collar sox & cuffs (and bike) FTW!

  • I'd take the Cervelo

    I'd take @staggy 's Pake over the Colnago 😈

  • Congratulations on your 271!

It wasn't a good day for fixed - far too much wind, and not really in the right direction for the course.
So there's certainly more to come in the future.

  • Fixed wheel not optimal for racing? Seems unlikely.

  • National 100 Championship, 9th July

We have not got a full field for this event.

I urge anyone here who has not entered to consider riding. Even if you haven't got a decent qualifying time you will get a ride and when you enter events in the future the words 'National Championship' will look good on your entry. This is an unusual situation since National Championships are usually oversubscribed, as the Hounslow 100 has been for the past couple of years, so this is a moment to seize the day.

The course is Farnham- Alton (H100/88) which, as umop3pisdn has just demonstrated, is suitable for fixed. Closing date is this Tuesday, 13th June so you need to take action now.

  • There is a school of thought which believes that when there is a strong wind blowing along the course fixed is not optimal.

This is just an opinion, don't take my word for it - just try for yourself.

  • What about steep hills?

  • You may try those as well if you like - Fortune favours the brave, they say.

  • What about steep hills?

There aren't any on this course.

  • I was reppin' LFGSS at the RP TT on Sunday. New PB by 8s! Still slow though compared to the big boys. :(

  • How did you get on? Don't know you IRL name.

  • Did not realise closing date was that soon! Will enter today.

  • Oh, never mind

  • you going to be able to sit down again by then, cracking ride yesterday, you must be a mix of broken and elated today?

looking forward to this one as I haven't been able to race it for the last couple of years as it usually coincides with my wife's birthday, amazed its not a full field!

  • A sniff over 258 for me, 12 miles down on last year, I never felt as if I was stomping yesterday, had a really bad patch between 100-150 miles, I think my head went a bit, the section to Chawton is a joke, ditched the helmet at 8 hours, really need to thanks Jo and Les from the Hounslow for giving up their whole day to help me and to clubman for the shouts, thanks guys also thanks Racescene (Richard Maxwell) for the bike, must admit I do love it, washed all the muck off of it this morning, 25 next weekend, might ride 49x14 fixed. Great pics by the way, well done to all the finishers yesterday, the wind was horrendous. Cheers all. Nic
