Don't stop pedaling.
Don't stop eating/drinking.
Don't fall asleep.Don't draft.

http://eu.ironman.com/triathlon/news/articles/2016/02/ironman-rules-q-and-a.aspx#axzz4DQo7wCDH
We increased the age-group draft zone from 10 meters to 12 meters for all IRONMAN 70.3 and IRONMAN events, including their respective world championships. The professional draft zone will remain at its current 12-meter distance. The draft zone distance will continue to be measured from the front wheel of the leading athlete to the front wheel of the following athlete; roughly equal to six bike lengths of clear space between athletes. The time allowed to pass another athlete will increase from 20 seconds to 25 seconds.

I think they saw the Win Tunnel video and changed their regulations :)
-
• #13781
Quite possibly!
I didn't know they'd changed it but the last tri I raced was 10+ years ago.

I was wondering if he actually made me go faster. I probably pushed a bit faster trying to shake him off.
-
• #13783
A drafting rider can make the rider in front faster aerodynamically too, but they'd probably have to be closer. There's a study somewhere.

I think it was another win tunnel vid.

Nah, well maybe, but it's a printed report I'm thinking of.

2 weeks repair time claimed by CRC is now 1.5 months...
CRC: "There seems to have been a problem with your address."
No, I don't yet live in a tent, the problem lies with you or your couriers.
I'm not having much luck with bikes at the moment.

NOTICE
The West London Cycling Association is considering winding-up.
Formed in 1907 the Association during it existence, has provided events for members of its affiliated clubs, many of whom had little opportunity of riding where there was an excess entry.
In its early years, there were many of those new to the sport who were offered the opportunity to ride the ‘faster’ courses which otherwise were oversubscribed and thus included only the fastest riders.
For some years now, that does not seem necessarily so. Entries are comparatively few and the number of events provided by the WLCA have been reduced in number.
At the Annual General Meeting which would normally be held during December, it will be necessary to elect a Chairman, a Secretary, Treasurer, Competitions Secretary, five Committee Members and six Event Secretaries. Of the current incumbents, at least six will not be standing for re-election in 2017.
Previous experience has indicated that volunteers/nominations will not be forthcoming.
Thus the Committee has decided that perhaps the Association is not required, that it has fulfilled its purpose.
It is asking Time Triallists in the London West District to confirm that this is right or wrong.
All are invited to attend an Extraordinary General Meeting
to be held at
PADWORTH VILLAGE HALL
PADWORTH LANE
PADWORTH
READING RG7 4HY
on
SUNDAY 18 SEPTEMBER 2016 AT 2.00PM
To consider the proposition that
Should the full complement of officials, event secretaries and at least three committee members not be elected, the Association should be wound up.
(ALTHOUGH THE MEETING IS OPEN TO ALL INTERESTED PARTIES, THE PROPOSAL MAY ONLY BE CARRIED BY A MAJORITY CONSISTING OF AFFILIATED CLUB MEMBERS) -

lil' reminder/bump that I'm selling my Flo. Would rather sell it here than have to brave TTF.

Also posted on my club fb page. In our case it seems that there was an original post to the WLCA FB page by Jim Burgin, that was then shared to our page:

Very soon I'll be running a 1x11 ultegra setup on my TT rig, and will also end up with a scuffed but functional 6870 rear mech. It would be nice to exchange out the mechanical shifters to clean up the front end in terms of cabling, and it appears you can get just the RH aero bar end shifter for about £60.
Junction box, battery and cables, do I need anything else? Will have to find a dummy bar end that resembles the 6871 shifter as well I guess. Do I even need a junction box if it's just 1x11?

Running an internal battery?
With an internal battery the A junction (normally placed under the handlebars) has the charging port so you can't get rid of that one although you could move it.
There's also normally a B junction (SM-JC41) placed inside the frame near the BB which I think is just 4 identical sockets and a signal repeater so I'm not sure you need it if you can connect everything into the A junction.
If you did that you would end up with 3 wires connecting the battery, shifter and RD directly to the A junction but I'm not quite sure where you would put the A junction to minimise total cable length and keep access to the charging port.
Given the B junction only costs about £20 I think I'd just fit one and be done with it.
You also need an overpriced Di2 charger and a selection of extra cables for when you've realised you've measured the bloody thing incorrectly and the run is 5cm longer than expected.
I ordered one cable of every length from Wiggle and returned the ones I didn't need apart from 800mm which was out of stock. Bet you can't guess which cable I needed.

I find it odd that they haven't emailed all secs in the district
They have tried to email all clubs which are members of WLCA, so if your club is a WLCA member and you didn't get the email then it's possible that they hold incorrect contact details. If your club isn't a member, then the affairs of the association have obviously never bothered you before and it's a bit late now.

Set a new 25 mile PB today on the E2/25, despite the fact that it was bloody windy. 55:53, just over a minute off my previous 25 mile PB. Given the conditions, I'm optimistic that a sub-55 25 is doable if the conditions are right. Probably not this year though, as I don't think I'll be riding on a fast 25 course for the rest of the year. Roll on 2017...

Rode a very slow Cheshire 25 yesterday, the only particularly remarkable thing about it was the 7.5 mile ride from the finish back to the HQ-am I right to think this quite far?
-
• #13799
that is quite far, I did a 100 a few weeks ago with a 6 mile ride back to HQ (all bloody up hill as well!) but that was because the course had to be altered due to road works

Hi Pete,
Not sure if you are aware, but there is an extra roundabout, which has just been added prior to the 1st one. Closely followed by pedestrian crossing traffic lights which are also new.
I rode it on Saturday, surface OK, but the map which comes up in the link doesn't yet show the new rbt.
Accepted for Mersey Roads 24. One tweet I saw said 83 solos (7 women), 4 tandems.
Debut TT. Anything I need to know?
