When is that one?
Up to £600 putting my bike back together post pot hole fun, hoping my solicitors are quick about this compensation claim so I get the whole lot done.
Looking forward to this 100 this weekend, shame I'm not doing to uber fast ecca event but the hillyness of this one should leave some low hanging fruit for next time! 1200m doesn't look that bad I suppose but it's all on windy country roads as well! The 5 mile trip back to the car post finishing should be fun as well!

It took me 12 months to get my claim money.

I'm not sure riding a hilly-as-fuck™ 600k the week before is the best prep for a 100.
Hopefully the weather and the roads make up for my legs.

I'm not sure riding x the week/day before is the best prep for y.

You doing the U86/100 ?
I did the U86/50a recently, 2.07 got me 12th- its pretty lumpy although a lot of the nasty potholes/surface has been repaired. I think Matt Burden won with a 1.53 and only the top 3 went <2hrs.
It's not a quick course but it is pretty nice and the roads fairly quiet, a proper hardriders course :)

Took me 3 years.

Oh well, it'll be time for a new bike by then!

The weather? It's at 5am in the morning.
It'll be cold.
The road will be empty. -
• #13362
Not sure if I'd risk that. Never ridden a DC course in any condition.

Riding on dual carriageways in heavy rain seems a bit risky, or should I HTFU ?
It's more risky than riding in the dry, how much more depends a lot on how the surface reacts to rain - some are worse than others for generating a lot of spray. As @hippy says, it's only a 10, there will be loads of other opportunities.

Why so long? Was it a council case? Medical issues? Or did you choose LawyersRUs to represent you?
-
• #13365
Yep, that's the one, its got the same variation in for the 100, looks like Matt was the only one to go under 4 hours on the course last year, I'm not sure how much of a hardrider I am, I don't even know what hardrider actually means in TT terms!
current 100pb is 4:46, think I should be able to better that now, will be riding to a power number and seeing where it gets me, 1st goal would be under 4:20, with a stretch goal of being within 15 minutes of Matt's time.

Cold is relative. -2, I'm out. 10, ok fine. 20, thanks!
Can someone organise a fleet of trucks to thunder up and down the A14? Actually, I could. I wonder if anyone has done that before? I guess not many haulage bosses are into TTing...

Council. Pothole. Broke most of the bones in the right side of my face.

I still am unsure how I'm going to arrive quietly.
Having now received no less than 3 emails, expressing riders must arrive quietly. I'm feeling a little bad.

Guess I had better lawyers... or your council did.
They x-rayed my face and then realised behind it was solid bone, from one ear to the other, so they sent the x-ray out to Uxbridge Road and found it was suffering compound fractures in multiple locations. :)

Don't talk? Don't slam doors? If it's such an issue I might just park elsewhere and ride over.

You forget I only have the motorbike.
It's not erm, quiet. -

That's pretty good going of them.
And I think I got a good settlement ;)

Hardriders courses are generally hilly and with plenty of corners, the opposite of a fast DC course basically :)
Frequently (although not in this case) they are also non-standard distances. Is Matt racing it this weekend? If not and you are comparing against his time last year, be aware that the course is slightly different from last year due to roadworks around the far side of the course around wood lane rather than continuing along the B4042 to the B4696 junction - so that adds an extra junction and a somewhat rutted lane :)
Misses out the Holybourne/Chawton stretch though. So the only bumps will be at the Farnham end!
