My Nikes now have a hole in their sole. :(
The custom inners of my SIDIs probably remoulded themselves to the shape of fasteddy's drive in today's sun..

That's impressive. Discount the extra miles and it would take you down to 4.35ish. Fuck knows what difference riding in trainers would have made but it would have been considerable. Big respect for that as a first ride at the distance.

Daft twat. :-)
Well done.

I was there and I was in awe. There is no way on gods earth I would have ridden in trainers. HTFU has been redefined. On the other hand I am a little worried about Hippy, he took it all so calmly it was almost like he planned it............ ;-)
I did take the correct shoes and I am completely fucked so well done Hippy. -

Unlikely, we wouldn't have heard the end of it if he had. :P

Damn right.. but then you don't hear the last of most things from me so if I won something why should that be any different.. especially a hill climb.. andy, did you know I won a hill climb? :)
So, ronery..

Nope. I found out too late that there was a property developer/architect type support race. I reckon I could've sweet talked my way into that if I'd known.

How do they work out the distance you've done in 12 and 24hr TTs?
-
• #1266
They ask you to give an honest estimate.
-
• #1267
You're doing laps and you get to the end of the 12 hours.. you could be anywhere on the course.
Know of a good 12hr (close to London or with good train connections) that I could enter this year?

There are a number of legs and or circuits. faster riders will do the longer legs where as slower ones may miss a leg out to keep the field fairly compact. And all of this is logged as anally as only the CTT can manage
Ultimately you end up on a finishing circuit with multiple timekeepers. You finish at the first timekeeper after you have passed 12/24 hours and they will have also taken your time at the penultimate one and then they calculate where you were after the 12/24 hour passed.
I'm not sure how clear that is!

Eastern Counties at the end of August or Kent CA early September. No idea on what the courses are like but I would guess the ECCA would be the better of the 2.

IIRC, you need to be a member of an ECCA-affiliated club to participate in their events? Maybe the ruling is waived for weird stuff like 12hrs (although this could be only in years where it's being used as the national champs)?
-

In the olden days, Association event were nearly always exclusively for affiliated clubs, but that is much less common these days since most organisers are glad of the extra entries, given that many events don't attract full fields. If it has an A next to it in the handbook, it's for members of affiliated clubs only. If it is run by an Association and doesn't have an A but does have SC, chances are that the Special Conditions are that preference will be given to members of affiliated clubs in the event of excess entries. If in doubt, most promoters have their phone numbers in the handbook so you can always check when the book comes out and you're planning your season.

Dunno, what's your standard time for 25 miles?
worth the slight inconvenience isn't it. Think of the cleat wear you've saved.
