some of the worst marketed bikes in triathlon, but decent spec for the money, there were loads knocking around bike shops at the end of last year for silly low money - saw the 105 version for £1k...

I know that.
My point was about the cost of new ones, I didn't realise how much they were. It's madness. How they can cost that much. -
• #11729
less than people think ...
-
• #11730
Very small market.
More development work required (for those that actually do stuff like tunnel testing) although the trend to aero road bikes might equalise that.

Not much different from road bikes of the same grade, e.g. Cervelo P5 Six with DA Di2 and Hed Jet 6 wheels is only £400 more than the S5 with the same build, the Magura brakes on the Tri bike account for a large part of that.

Never pay retail.

• #11733
Yeah you're right.
Crazy.
Fixed gear is the future! -
• #11734
and the past...

• #11735
I can't do fixed. I like to change fear to keep in optimum cadence. Riding outside of optimum cadence is horrible.
My first TT bike was around £1000 and half that was wheels. So yeah tr bikes can be affordable. But I was just shocked at the price of new ones.
No wonder cycing is the spot with one of the largest market calitilisations of all sports. -
• #11736
Still got your old race wheels? Like you say, they're half the cost.
-
• #11737
Yeah front hed tri spoke and a raltech.
Will keep eye out for a good frame old 54/p2/3 and then get some di2 parts.
Want to build a TT bike that will last and can keep. So I can get a good position and keep it. Rather than borrow and give back bikes. -
• #11738
Why Di2? Drivetrain is where I'd be saving money. Mechanical 10spd and a big single chainring.
-
• #11739
Because shiny things.
But really I just dreamed of looking like Fabian on a new shiny trek speed concept.

Seen better positions at the Wobbly Wheelers Club 10!

Sexy.

I thought everyone was getting hot and bothered about Tom 'Shitting Dog' Dumoulin.

Riding a TT bike is like making love to a beautiful woman...

Finally got around to test-fitting at the Low Stack hardware Specialized sent me to make my bars non-death. With the pillars built up to raise the bars/pads they could be quite effective, in which case I've got myself another set of aerobars. The recalled hardware is lying in front.

Not considered trimming the angled part of the start handles off?
-
• #11746
Not many 4 x TT world champions riding it though.
-
• #11747
When was the last time Fabs won a proper TT?
-
• #11748
No, they're very comfy and feel more secure than straight ends.
-
• #11749
When was the last time he trained for one?
-
• #11750
Shhh
It's not about the bike.
My first cost £500 for the framset. My second one was less than half retail by buying last year's model new off ebay. It's as expensive as you want to make it. Get your sponsors onto it :)
