  • College or the similar size model with pockets.

  • I'd also ideally want to fit a pair of office shoes, a pair of trousers, a shirt and a couple of tools so what bag would you guys advise?

I'm using Nelson long flap for the same kind of load.
Some times wish for a smaller bag though,

  • You can get that lot into a Barley at a pinch (I have) but to avoid scrunching your office wear I'd recommend the Pendle. 9L vs. 11L.

  • Sounds like a job for Nelson, maybe the longflap.

  • You then have something that works for touring too.

  • Just wondering if anyone has had any issues attaching the Bagman supports to a Fizik Arione saddle? Trying to work out if a saddle bag could be my saviour for my commute.

I have logged plenty of miles with a bagman mounted to an Arione with no problems at all.

I'd say Nelson longflap would do the job for your needs.

  • SQR tour does the trick for me for commuting. Can fit all the above in, plus a pair of overshoes, couple of tubes and work bits.

  • Managed to pick up a defective Camper Longflap on eBay. Now to work out which clamp system I want to use... Which system reduces movement of the saddle bag the most in your opinions?

  • Never had a problem with the SQR letting anything flop about, even when it's fully loaded but I've not used any of the others.

  • I wasn't a massive fan of the SQR but I love the Bagman QR (old style without the stays).

+1 to this. I have tried Bagman 1 & 2 and prefer the earlier version.

  • To elaborate on why I didn't like the SQR, I'll draw your attention to my post from this very thread some three years ago.

I've now ridden with the SQR and it's really annoying me, thinking of getting the QR support now at a painful £45. The bag still swings and it just looks saggy. I want it to look like a little sausage roll at the back but instead it looks like a cat hung up on a washing line by its shoulders. Admittedly it's carrying about 3.5kg which is the bag, support and contents.

I think I made the mistake of mixing a "classic" bag with a modern support. Or something. It just doesn't feel right.

I also seem to remember that it puts the top of the bag facing backwards so there's the constant risk of stuff falling out.

  • Try the classic rack, mines rock solid although admittedly only carrying a Barley with a few clothes and an emergency ration of whisky.

  • Ah ok, I've only used it with the Tour, which is fairly solid itself.

  • I use the SQR with the Tour Slim (although slim only in Carradice terms, I still had shoes, helmet, clothes, etc in there the other day) and never had any problem with it feeling secure but the SQR Tour bags are designed for that mount with a metal frame on them and a base to them.

Personally the convenience of clipping them on and off (I have a couple of bikes and a smaller SQR Glentress which is a great bag that they've discontinued) trumped the classic design for me.

    Super C Audax Saddlebag.

  • Check out this Pendle on ebay. Have Carradice done a bit of a rebrand? No piece of oval metal stamped with "Carradice" and no logo on the reflective area.

  • If so it would be too bad, that metal oval makes a more secure and better positioned light holder than the intended one.

  • I got a Kelly original!

Newcomer Margareta climbing the ladder with a Pendle. Though could she be Margaret A and the sender of spare Bagman bolts as seen upthread? Perhaps we'll never know.

  • Stitched a new handle. Fuck knows why there isnt one there already. All you need is 200mm length bit of nylon done...

    And on my bagman

When I get round to it im gonna extend the nylon side strap for my mini D to fit a bit better.

  • I've been putting off that task for about 3 years out of simple laziness!

Felt like a total goon holding my bag under my arm.

Did this for a bit too...

Which used my strap to carry my brompton...

    Also pretty useful.

  • See my inner tube solution, upthread.

Nice work though ray, I'm impressed.
