so, you enjoy riding a bike with a 23 litre saddlebag loaded with shopping?
-
• #530
I'd prefer to have a rear rack that can actually support the 23 litre capacity, even with the huge Bagman, it's horrible to ride unless it's a sit-up and beg bicycle where the effect is minimised.
I find in my personal experience, the max I can go is 11 litres before it seriously affect how a bicycle feel.

Maybe it's because I'm slow, but I have and use the largest Carradice for just that purpose, with no issues other than avoiding potholes in order to save my avocados and tomatoes.

That would make sense, it wasn't a problem when I had it on my old bicycle because I was taking it easy, but wouldn't want to go touring on it, especially in the Alps for example.

I have a Nelson longflap and use a Bagman 1 (the one without the extra support struts). When I have the bag heavily loaded - probably 5kg plus - I put a bungee round it for extra security.
My brother is a teacher and uses a Camper longflap on a Bagman 2 (with the extra struts). He loads that with an entire class's exercise books etc and has no issues. Must be in excess of 10kg.

I just ordered the patching kit to make some repairs to my Barley and they send you a tonne, so if anyone wants some patches let me know. The glue they give you is just normal Copydex and they chuck some reproofing wax in as well, but I can only supply patches.
I had some holes from carrying my lock in there where the lock had rubbed holes the cloth where it presses on the QR support.

I would love some of that Carradice black canvas, need to figure out how to claim a 3 metre hole in my Nelson.
-
• #540
Ah I should have mentioned it's green (although my bag is also black). I don't recall there being an option to choose actually.

Either way, it's wondrous stuff.

Lovely piece of kit with nice finishing touches such as the clip for your light.

Just put a whole tin of the waterproofing wax on my Super C, hopefully that should keep out the worst of Scotland's weather.

I got a bit startled when I tried to put some on my Barley t'other week. It doesn't go a long way does it? I was wondering if you had to get full coverage before melting it in.
-
• #548
I think it's supposed to be spread fairly thinly, but in practice that's pretty hard to do on the rough cotton. I did a couple of passes, smearing it about as much as possible then melting it in with a hair drier. Seems to have done the trick to an extent as water is beading quite nicely on the surface.

Just wondering if anyone has had any issues attaching the Bagman supports to a Fizik Arione saddle? Trying to work out if a saddle bag could be my saviour for my commute.

I'd also ideally want to fit a pair of office shoes, a pair of trousers, a shirt and a couple of tools so what bag would you guys advise?
