I'm up for a Brighton run. Think I'm gonna be to-ing and fro-ing between here and Bath once I have my dissertation handed in. Looks like I'll be taking the geared bike home with me (lots of hills in Bath) and hoping to do the run down to here and back a few times before out let is up on the house, it's 60 odd miles with lots of ups and downs, definately not a ride I want to do fixed.

Jason is using my racer, so I would use your geared. Someone will be riding it who is actually good enough to max it out.

Oh yeah definately, and we are racing too so will be wanting to go fast!

Saw that ToW a while back, would love to enter that! I'll be back home in Bath this weekend, so can't come over to watch, but will be back on Monday or Tuesday for some rides next week?

Brighton run to scout out the route at a steady pace at the end of the month, then again when you're racing your colleague on 10th? I'm up for that. Then if I cant keep up with your blistering pace I wont get lost!

As for submissions, tomorrow!! I'm printing the colour pages later on, then going to get it bound first thing and hand it in. Then have to hang around for a phone interview before I go for a celebratory cycle to Bath - 60 hilly miles. I pussied out of last time and got the train the last 20 miles... :( not this time though, oh no!

Ride report: Hard, despite having done the route before and despite having gears. It just seems to be all uphill! Check the elevation profile on the map. 30km of pretty much constant climbing, before a big drop down into Shaftesbury, only to have to climb back up to get out of the town. I seem to forget this every time I decide to ride up here. Still, I was feeling pretty good, legs tired but had some juice left. Onto the last few blessedly flat miles along the canal when the skies opened and it fucking pissed it down! Canal tow path + heavy rain = covered in mud. But a shower was waiting for me at home, so I enjoyed flying through the puddles :D

Haven't checked my computer yet but I think I did it in just under 4 hours, which ain't too bad. Will be doing the reverse next week I think, should be much faster, all that descending!

It looked bloody windy out just after you left. Checked the met office page and it said gusts up to 47 mph.

Did you find somewhere to print in colour up uni? If so how much did it cost?

Yeah was pretty windy, some hairy moments going 35-40 downhill with a side wind, luckily there wasn't much slogging into the wind. Just checked my computer, 3h28m ride time, plus stops to eat cereal bars and once to hide from the rain. Not a bad time at all.

Yes you can print in colour at uni, its 25p per A4 page, the printer is in the print room on the first floor of Poole house. Didn't I already tell you this?
