I can't see that mate but they're defo different, I used to have Omega Vs on the Vivalo(you saw) and defo different to Seouls
Check the pic DMC put on the previous page, the black Omegas, you can see there -

Graham did yours have any kind of braking surface as I asume that these are road/track rims http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg31/PatrickChurch/BianchiPistaConcept1.jpg

That's the Omega V mate, I had them in silver - no braking surface
-
• #61
I heard they were completely unsuitable for the road and prone to breaking
i hear njs frames are also completely unsuitable for the road and prone to breaking.
-
• #62
That's a myth

This rim appeared in the '96 catalog as the rims were renamed for various host Olympic cities. This particular rim is the same as the Omega "V ". The only notable change being a 28 hole drilling in addition to the 32 & 36. In addition to the Hardox finish, it was also offered in Satin. Width is 20mm.Why does everyone think they are the same - am I missing something - I'll have a look in the catalogue tomorrow

oh and i hear aluminium bars aren't strong enough for the pressures of a fixed gear bike, and that radial laced wheels will collapse, and that single straps are prone to breaking and that spds will wear and pull out, and that knog lights aren't bright enough, and that... (sorry, i'll stop. i'm sick of people dissing sheriff's stars though...)
-
• #65
I don't think anyone's dissing them, I had a set, used on the road once or twice but didn't do bunny hops or go go up and down kurbs on them BUT I would'nt feel properly comfortable using them on the shitty roads of London

They are ideal for 'walking bikes' bikes so beautiful that you have to walk them everywhere so everyone sees...;)

• #67
oh i know nobody on this tread is. but sooner or later someone will post this pic:
and then discussions about roadworthiness begin. and then i get all pissy and worked up, sitting here at home at my computer spitting bile at my screen. i'm just preempting...

Didn't Campagnolo also made Sheriff Star road hubs?
-
• #69
yep they did.

Slight digression, what tubs are you going for Smiling Buddha ?
I've been after a mid range durable tub with tan sidewalls, a bit nicer than a Vittoria Rally but not as stupidly expensive as a Veloflex

for this bike veloflex - mostly because I am only going to walk about with it looking Italian and beautiful - for a working bike such as the Pinarello I am trying out Continental Gatorskins and a small tin of aersol latex if I do get a puncture - I have a cheapish source of veloflex

Something to do with road buzz, and the narrow parts on the flanges I think. TBH its a bit like the old carbon fiber debate. Things fail, thats life. The question is, do we see alot of a certian component/material failing, or are we just noticing them more because of the rep.
They are however lovely looking, that much I'm sure of ;)

Check the pic DMC put on the previous page, the black Omegas, you can see theregraham - you are right - if you look in the 1989 catalogue the Omega V's have a slightly different profile to the Seouls in the 1996 catalogue - would you happen to know if the Omega V is black come up very often?
-

FFS! Look on campyoldy, they're on there, I posted the details yesterday! ;-)
They're not a true black btw, like a dark grey/charcoal colour
Those Seouls are a different shape to Omega V, they look like they have a flat edge(almost like a braking surface), Omega Vs are smooth/rounded, conical like
