  • WHy do I read these threads before watching the race? Des, I'm gonna thump you when I see you next!

  • I've always rated Haussler. The real reason why Australia had to be told to HTFU was because he went to Germany to race.

Most good Aussie riders move to Europe to race. There's very little pro racing in Australia.

  • The comments above give a downbeat impression of this race. I thought the pace of the racing up those last 2 climbs was amazing, and the fact that Cavendish won finished it off perfectly.

  • That was Haussler's to win. Top effort. Cavendish can suck my balls for stealing that.

  • Wed 3pm Brit Eurosport onwards, 6.45pm (daily for x days) - Track Cycling World Cup, Poland

For you poor slags without Sky+ (this is for you Rob), BBC2 has highlights each day at 7pm

  • Criterium International... today.. you missed it.

  • Speak for yourself! Jens Voigt wins yet again, his fifth win in the event.

  • I didn't miss it. Jens is a fucking awesome rider. He took all but the young rider's jersey too.

Unfortunately, whenever I put on of those pro fuckers on a pedestal, 12 months later they are banned for drug use. Jens is too cool to be doping*. *He's cursed now.

  • Don't put them on a pedestal. They are human like you and I with the same weaknesses. I was talking about this with a friend last night and you can absolutely understand why they do drugs, if they don't then in most cases they are out of a job.

Anyway, I agree about Jens Voigt. What a fucking rider. He just whacks it into a big gear and goes for it. Awesome stuff.

  • I loved this story about Voigt from the ToC last year or the year before. He's riding along chatting to another German rider (who wrote about it in his diary, I can't remember who it was now). Suddenly the hammer goes down and the bunch speeds up to something like 55-60kph. Voigt stops chatting, goes to the front and attacks. Later, he comes back and says to the other rider he'd been chatting to: 'Sorry about that, I just had to show these guys that you can still attack even if the bunch is doing 60.'

  • The Bikeradar/Cyclingnews podcast this week opens with a great quote from Jens;

  • "Fuck stopping lying to me!"

    That's gold! He's awesome!

  • :-)

  • Tour of Flanders is on Eurosport at 1pm.

  • It will please hippy that Haussler has just declared that he'll be starting for the Australian national team (he has dual nationality).

I was there. Didn't spot myself in their coverage though.

Well, he IS Australian even if he has a funny name :P

I tipped Devolder and Haussler for the ToF sweep on our trip. 32 euro thanks!

RickyMundo (Grupetto, on here some times) tipped the top FOUR riders!!! Another 32euro for beers thanks.

    Dan Lloyd

  • I'm not Dan Lloyd

  • No, you are. Just look at the skinny legs and the evident fitness.

  • That can't be hippy for two reasons; the obvious one and the lack of a protuding tongue.

  • The obvious one being that I'd never pull my socks up that high ;)

  • You've both missed the most obvious reason, which is that hippy took the picture.

  • You can't prove a thing, Schick! ;)
