They're very very cheap frame, just need to wait till they're on sales, every couple or so month they're £99 for the last 2 years (as far as I remembered).

Thanks Ed, I've ridden a PC with a short stem and know that it was great with the 28c tyres, I'll need a go on an XL pomp.

What kinda tyre sizes can we get in the back of an FXE/PC again?
I've run my PC with a 35c Conti crosstyre in the rear. Required a tiny bit of trimming of the outermost knobbles.

This is still one of my favourites.

To precursa owners : Maybe someone is using 53t chainring with some road cranks like shimano 600, rd2, how does it fit ? also what lenght bb are you using?
Shimano Exage 500 or something with a 52mm ring on 107mm bb
Chainring bolt spacers were a bit tight but Should be fine with single speed bolts. -
• #989
reading through this thread I can see that the precursa can take wider tires, is the track champion the same? ideally I'd like to run a 28 on the rear and a 25 on the front.
-
• #990
^when will that be? I'm waiting for that too. And also not sure about the whole Pre Cursa / Pompino thing :/
Brakeless aluminium track frame v steel cyclocross style frame with canti/v mounts.
How can you be comparing/considering these?
-
• #991
True this.
Also, they're so cheap that you can have both. Like I do :-)
-
• #992
Brakeless?
Nah mate, they are both cheap frames with track ends and both can fit similar tyre sizes.
-
• #993
Just because they're cheap and have track ends doesn't mean they're remotely similar.
-
• #994
They'd both do a similar thing for me.
-
• #995
What, fail?
-
• #996
They'd both do a similar thing for me.
Brother, they're both too small for you.
Pompino you can get away with having a lots of spacer, whether the Precursa you look like a fucking idiot with a fucked back and the ability to lose the front wheel
-
• #997
They're completely different bikes. Get rid of the ridiculous on one and get something that'll fit your t Rex brotherhoods syndrome.
-
• #998
Look guys it's really not that difficult. If they were similar I wouldn't have such a hard time choosing now would I? I would just get the cheapest one and be done with it. I just
needwant a new bike and I'm trying to decide which one would better suit my intended purpose. -
• #999
My point being that your "intended purpose" should either make it blindingly obvious which bike is more suitable or the purpose is such that neither is suitable ie.
-
• #1000
That doesn't make sense but thanks for your concern.
Not debating that, I know nothing about his intended use but I recognise that both frames are on opposing ends of the spectrum but that makes my choice even more difficult. Is the Pompino on sale around the same time every year?
