^Nothing like a landlord tapping a barrel of something good for regulars near Christmas. Back when I was a student we were fairly regular drinkers at the Star; come late December it wasn't unknown for a jug of 1845 or even Golden Pride to suddenly appear at our table; Fuller's apparently provided barrels to favoured publicans. #csb

Very sweet, so if you like that kinda thing it'd be well worth trying.

Had a very pleasant catch up and a natter with some mates at the Pig's Ear beer festival in Hackney. Drank various dark things, starting with a couple of milds and working my way up through the stouts and porters. I wholly approve of the thirds thing; means you get to taste lots of different things without falling over. I had to dash for my train so didn't get round to trying the O'Hanlons vintage, for which I'm slightly kicking myself, but did pick up a Tynt Meadow from the bottle bar to try later.

The Speyside Cacao from the same brewery is pretty decent as well if you like Whiskey BA things...

... funny old lot , the Pig's Ear attendees ... weirder than any London fixed wheel or single speed bike riders ... but , lots of nice beers ..... and the thirds thing great .. if ... you have any discipline ... and if you don't - quite a bonkers ride home - South at commuter hour .... probably be back for more tomorrow ... !

Ha, I didn't think they were a particularly weird lot by beer festival standards, but then as a card-carrying CAMRA member of long standing maybe I've just become immune to it! Helped that it wasn't too busy, but I really enjoyed it.

Brew by numbers did a one off DDH session IPA for a motorbike event I was working at down in Greenwich last night. As ever, seriously great beer. Wish I saw more of their stuff about in cans

Spooky this was just in at my LBS. Subtle Orange, more Matchsticks than Terrys C O.

Been enjoying my (not so) secret santa from my Bavarian colleague (working in Munich). Never heard of any of them, but what I’ve had so far - the Hohenthanner and the Arcobrau - has been superb.

Nice. I just had a De Molen Hel & Verdoemenis Bowmore BA after starting with a Mühlenkölsch at lunch , followed by a Tannenzäpfle and a Westmalle Triple later.

Abstrakt 16 on the go. Was bottled in 2014 and has lost all carbonation but otherwise a tasty ale, quite christmassy infact!
