  • I discovered the Gouden Carolus this weekend it's really nice..

Triple Karmeliet is a firm favourite of mine

  • Sitting in Henley in the sweet sunshine, enjoying a lovely pint of Lovibonds 69 IPA, very nice drop. Lovibonds brewery tasting rooms, nice to pop over to when I'm back at my girlfriends parents house, worth a trip if you're in the area!

  • Any Pitfield brewery fans? All theirs I've tried are great, including the mighty Hartman & Scherrer Steam Beer recipe.

  • I find pitfield to be very hit n miss, had a few utter rank pints from them

  • today though, being back home in Sweden, i had a pint of OppigĂ„rds Spring Ale

    damn nice!

  • Every pub i've been in over the holidays has had Doom Bar. Is Cornwall trying to invade London by stealth?

  • No, but you are not far off.

The brand has now been sold to Millers (SAB )

The brewery was brought by a couple of marketing people a couple of years back who were clear that their business plan was to create a national brand and the sell it on. This they have done.

Don't be surprised to see the brewery eventually move from Rock.

  • lovely stuff

  • I have found that honey beers are a nice introduction to beer/ale, for ladies that normally don't go for the stuff.
A freezing one on a hot day is marvellous.

  • lovely stuff

    this is better though:

  • I can dig Waggle Dance, but find Honey Dew a little more palatable over the course of a dozen few bottles.

  • Humdinger is good if you can't find waggle dance

  • this is better though:

need to find that. I only bought the waggle dance because it was in the offy opposite my house.

  • The Nisa(?) next to LMNH sells it. One of my favourite bottled ales. Banana flavour, without being too fruity or sweet.

  • If we're talking fruity ales then this is well worth a try.
I'm never usually a fan of novelty choconanacoffeebubblegum ales but Golden Glory blew me away.
Refreshing peach an melon taste that still manages to taste like a hoppy light session ale as well.

  • Big vote for this ^ very nice!

  • Agreed. This stuff is delicious, although I've also been underwhelmed by the odd bottle or two - maybe they vary a bit?
Morrisons does it and it's included in the 4 for a fiver or whatever the offer is

  • I didn't believe it was 9.5% but this reckons it is:

Quite a bit sweeter than I expected and none of the alco burn you get with high alcohol content wino beers. Mal wouldn't touch a second drop so it must be good. Would drink again.

  • Mmmm, looks good. BringMeMyBottle, please :)

  • viven brun. not had it before, remarkably similar to meantime chocolate ale, a glass of tripel karmelet too. which was nice.

  • Mmmm, looks good. BringMeMyBottle, please :)

I'd never seen them before (not over here anyway).
I cycled past the Zywiec brewery (didn't stop, it's on the list of places to visit next time).
I will see if I can find some in Londontown and let you know. Most of the Poles I know only drink lagers and vodka.

  • They fail.

  • FTFY: They fall.

  • I don't know if anyone tried this ale before, I'm just looking on the internet and I quite like the layout on the bottle, anyone knows something?
