£5:80 at my local beer emporium.
Unfortunately not all their stock is so affordable: I got very excited at the prospect if the Bourbon-aged stout from Brooklyn, but it's £25 a bottle. -

If anyone fancies hitting me up on https://untappd.com/ I'm under the name John Anderson (FastCrash).
If you haven't used it, it's basically Strava for beer drinkers.

Best ale I've had in a long time: Amarilla by Brodie's. It's (you've guessed) an Amarillo hopped ale. Just wonderful. It has a strawberry jam aroma to it.

Does anyone else think Verhaeghe Duchesse de Bourgogne tastes a bit like (delicious, potable) worcestershire sauce?
Just me?

Where did you get the Ommegang from? I though nobody imported that to London?
I have been craving a Three Philosopher ever since I moved back to the old continent!
Kudos for the St. Bernardus Abt 12.
I'd like to add some here, not sure if mentioned already:
Brooklyn Local 1
Brooklyn Sorachi Ace
Gouden Carolus Cuvee Van De Keizer Red
Gouden Draak
Preesure Drop Bosko Absoluto
Unibroue Maudite
Unibroue La Find Du Monde
Ommegang Three Philosopher
Ommegang Rare Vos
Ommegang Scythe and Sickle
Flying Dog Raging Bitch -

Not sure. Probably beersofeurope.com but I lost count of where I found a lot of stuff.
I have a Brooklyn Local 2. Sorachi Ace is too expensive so I've not bothered trying it. Love the variants of Gouden Carolus. Had many of these over the years. The dragon too. I think I've had some other Ommegang - maybe the 3 Phil not the others though. Flying Dog is pretty easy to get in hipsterville.

If you didn't try the 3 Phil you left out the best one from them, trust me. Also, Local 1 and Local 2 are completely different to me, love the 1, hate the 2. You can get one from brewdog for about 13£.
Also, if you can get your hand on some from Unibroue they are fab!

I meant Bottledog, on Gray's Inn Road

Untappd tells me I have indeed had the 3 Phil -around xmas so probably in the same order as the other one. I remember it but I don't remember what I thought of it as I have no notes.
I've not had either the 1 or 2 yet.

so glad Im not on 'ratebeer' forum....Gouden Carolus 'review' " An enjoyable beer that proved easy enough to drink but in truth didn’t really strike me as a memorable offering or one that I’d be all that likely to go back to in the future. There was nothing wrong with the beer as such, it just seemed to be missing that special something that would have found be rating it higher. This was partially down to the beer following a fairly predictable pattern from nose to taste with the ripe fruits and sweetness staying consistent throughout; a decent beer but there are better Belgian offerings out there to be had."

If anyone is keen the guys at Bottledog can arrange tastings, as well as food pairings upon request.
Also, on a separate note, I am a big Belgian beer fan, any bar recommend other than the Dovetails?
-
• #3346
Dovetail, The Dove, Lowlander in Covent Garden, the Dutch place I can never rememebr the name of, might be on Windmill Street but I'd have to look it up, any of the Brewdog bars, the Craft Beer Co bars, the Star and Anchor in West Ealing, the old Goat or something - I've never been but it's meant to be Belgian food and beer out west somewhere, Belgos - Kings Road/Lane or is it Queens? I forget, but there's also one near Clapham Common somewhere. The Rake in Borough market has some.

Yeah, I'm quite into Belgian beers myself. Before the whole craft thing happened it was pretty much seek and destroy as much fabrique belgique as possible. Started with Belgos then moved to Dovetail a lot then Lowlander when there was one in the City, then the one in Covent Garden and now were hitting up a lot of German bars because the people I drank Belgian stuff with went back to Oz.
For a 10% er ltd edition sounds quite reasonable.
