  • There is also Kris Wines, just past camden station, i don't think they have a website though

  • Also, anyone that is around for this should definitely try and get down there for it.
Amberely ale festival has a huge amount of beers, over 100 I think and another load of cider too.
Its held in Amberley working museum in the picturesque arun valley and runs for 3 days from the 2nd to 5th of September. It costs ten pounds, but for that you get your entrance fee plus an ale festival pint glass to that you drink from for the whole night and get to keep.
Lots of music, morris dancers, hog roast etc as well.

I wish I could go. Went last year and it was top, real good vibe there.

  • Ill keep my eyes open for that.
Any idea if anywhere south of the river has this?

You're only likely to get it south of the river Deben (not strictly true, you'd get it north of there too). I doubt Nethergate has much impact on pubs in London so your best bet is a specialist beer shop or a supermarket

Alcohol, so early in the day? The effects are clear. ;)

  • Anyone else had and nasty hangovers with Pure's ' Mad Goose'? It's a nice drop but for some reason my hangovers are epic after a few. Meh. They sell it in the Roebuck which is why I felt gash on Weds.

I'm already looking forward to a drink in Jan's tonight, heading straight there after work today

  • God knows if i've posted in this bad boy before but here are my top whatever:

    Olde Trip
    Doom Bar
    Hobsons Choice
    Snecklifter (fuck yes)
    XXXB

  • Reminds me of that time Wests was on tour on t'other side of the river in Putney.

  • and...

  • Had a few too many of these last night, crashed my new king of mercia and bent the brake lever, had to sit down for 45 minutes and try and sober up before I could cycle straight.

Such a nice beer though, a bit like Langhams Hip Hop but has a crisper taste.

  • Christ it was wheat beer! I didnt even realise.

  • this looks my kind of pub
    almost tramp beers

  • been mainly drinking Maredsous brune, Ciney, Petrus brune, Geuze boon (lambic beer) and kasteel rouge.
i really like the lambic beers quite refreshing and not as strong as the abbey style beers.

  • some lambics can be horribly sour
but i know what you mean about the refreshing if you find a nice one they can be lovely

  • mort subite is nice.
i agree that you have to try not associate the sour/sharp taste with bile/puke

  • ha yes so true

  • one of the very finest golden ales imo....perfect for this time of year

  • and of course this one which is in a similar vein

  • This must have been mentioned already,
but always enjoy a brown ale

  • newky brown? was probably a nice drink 20 years ago, production has been moved around a fair bit. is it still classed as 'real beer'?

  • I'm on a Fullers Honey Dew mission.
    With pretzels.

probably showing my youth, but to me it's nicer than most stuff when i'm out, (the usual suspects include stella, becks, red stripe, kronenbourg etc).
I'd like to compare the taste now to the glory days.
