This
on tap at the Wenlock at the moment.
Rich taste and a little sweetnessChecked with the Wenlock yesterday. No TT Le champ. Seems they got through 3 barrels in a under a week. I asked if they're getting more.
Seems the price per barrel £99 is much too expensive compared to other equally tasty and strong beers such as Dark Star beers at about £60 a barrel.
This Wenlock prices beer according to % alcohol and has 3 prices (something like 3%-4.5%, 4.5%-6%, 6%+ tbc)
The manager suggested its worth a little campaign about the price of TT beer so I plan to tweet them https://twitter.com/TimothyTaylors

How many pints are in a barrel? If memory serves it's 11 gallons? 88 pints?
-
• #2737
Firkin: 2 pins = 9 gallons = 72 pints
Kilderkin (frequently 'kil'): 2 firkins = 18 gallons = 144 pints
Barrel: 2 kilderkins = 36 gallons = 288 pints -

and this, children, is why clever countries use metric. :P
-
• #2739
Metric is more expensive
10p decimal = 12p
50miles = 80km -
• #2740
No, metric is worth more
10p decimal = 12pand sounds further
50miles = 80km -

Had some Fourpure cans the other day.
Wasn't into their Pils much - far too bitter and much prefer the clean easily smashable German/Czech versions.
Their IPA was quite nice though.

50miles = 80kmAhh so you get more beer if you go metric?
1litre > 1 pint?
I like metric then

Nope 500ml < 1 pint.
But i agree, the imperial system can GTFO

Though, if you are correct, does a pub get 288 pints for £99, or even £60!?
-
• #2745
Seems so which means they make around £1000 [-£99] per barrel
Though this is london (not liverpool ;)
Higher overheadsI think we need some input from someone in the trade here rather than our wild speculation (-where is JC Garcia when you need him?)

How much does it cost for Joe Sixpack to buy one barrel?

£166 would be VAT
Duty on beer collected from the point of retail,
288 pints -> £30 per %abv, call it £100
So we're down to £735 from the original £1000.
VAT
