  • Big up andytk who pointed out to me this is available in cans:

    Nice.

  • Visited the Gruut brewery in Ghent. They make beers using spices instead of hops.

What were they like? I can almost imagine cardamon ale.

  • Big up andytk who pointed out to me this is available in cans:

Cool, had that on draught last week on holiday. Where did you get it?

  • caned a few tyskies...............lol. yolo

  • ^^ they have it on draught in the beagle, available at beermoth and the epicurean (all in mcr)

    ^ a snottyotter fave there.

  • ALL DAY!

In other beagle news; the Arbor Red Rye saison got better the longer they had it, but now it is gone.

  • Been up in the Dales for the past couple of weeks. This brew was my particular favourite.

  • What were they like? I can almost imagine cardamon ale.

They use coriander in ales so I don't see why other herbs and spices couldn't be used (except in the case of the Saison I had in Marylebone last week which had thyme and rosemary in, ugh).

I had the Gruut Inferno which was very floral but had a citrus tang, I thought it was really nice and was upset that I couldn't find any bottles of it to buy anywhere. hey sold all of their other beers.

Simon had the Brown I think which tasted a bit like a rich fruitcake.

We couldn't do a tour of the brewery as they only do tours for groups of 8 or more.

  • ^ cheers for the info, shame no bottles of the nice one...

^^^ Withington beer fest tomorrow night, hoping to pop in.

  • If the weathers not shit and depending on Envirolution I might pop by.

  • Fair weather drinker. I'll be passing thru Platt lunchtime so will check out Envirolution, assuming it's happening there of course.

  • Yeah, at the boathouse from 1300 I think. I was drinking through a hangover in the rain last night.

  • Boathouse looked all closed up about 1.15, I didn't hang around as was getting soaked, stopped to grab local honey now home and dry. Might also be fairweather drinker if it stays like this later.

  • It's pretty shit out ain't it. I might just stay in and watch the football.

  • Agreed although the important game is nearly done have hit the beagle for 1/2 a knuckle dragger by anarchy, a dipa 8.3% worth a try.

  • For thems of you that like Innis and Gunn, it's on offer in my local Aldi, £1.25 a bottle.

  • emelisse smoked rye ipa, nice.

  • This

on tap at the Wenlock at the moment.
Rich taste and a little sweetness

  • does one have to be a courier to drink that?

  • Not fixed.

  • Anyone found it anywhere else? Or in bottles?

  • The Wenlock do take away beer cartons...

  • tramp beers, summertime win, wintertime lose

  • tim taylor le champion was on the pumps after the tweed run... was good each time I had one

  • It wasn't to my taste.

Got back from my first trip to Ireland yesterday - didn't drink enough Smithwick's. Will rectify that next time, and there surely will be one.
