  • Oh, yes!

  • Hitochino Nest do a nice pale ale, it has a cool owl graphic on the label and cap

Hitochino sure do make nice English beer in Japan.

    Lots of air-miles.

  • I have to apologise to my local, independent off licences. Asda have 4 for £5 on again. Some nice things in there too, had a shephard neame double stout last night which was really good.

Do they still have St Peter's?
4 for £5 is criminal! It's how 'the man' will ensure very few businesses can grow to compete. It's really sad but only a result of consumer demands, even if said consumer also likes the idea of supporting small businesses but shops online/at Asda for the cheapest price.

  • Grabbed some more from Tesco delivery last night. Can't remember which but they have maybe 150 bottled ales to choose from. Worth having a look if you use their delivery service.

    Tesco have some St Peters.

I believe they do have some St Peter's, yes. Plenty of 6%+ ones in there too. The tramp maths works out well.

4 for £5 is just a ridiculous deal, Asda must be taking a loss on something like that surely?

Also guilty, I just used that deal to stock up on some Adnams and Shepherd Neame. I tried their (proper) IPA which is pretty good. That was a pleasant surprise as I find a lot of Shepherd Neame stuff quite uninspiring.

  • I had that same IPA last night. I wasn't that big a fan tbh.

I do have to credit Shepherd Neame and Bishops finger with converting me from a lager lout though. Purchased some in order to make batter for fish and drank the remainder. Before then i wouldn't even touch ale.

  • This stuff's the knowledge.
    Dark, tasty, hoppy.
No idea what the name's about.

  • I had a nice black IPA thing that I've forgotten the name of in sandbar on tuesday, normally I mix it up with the others but it was nice enough to stick to. As for tramp maths there is 36p bottles of quite alright 5% belgian stuff in B&M bargains in Hulme, gonna head there before polo.

  • Brewdog in Shebu is now open. Last night was fun :)

  • Tickety Brew Dubbel & Red Willow Smokeless another two nice dark ales, seem to be on a good run of them at the moment, these are local brewers Manc and Macc respectively.

There's a smoky one called Double Dark Alliance on at the beagle too I'm told, might have to pop in for a taster.

  • ^ Double Dark Alliance is 9.2% and almost chewable. Deliciously dark, like a glass of mince pies.

Any of the Manchester folks been at the love beer fest this weekend? Only found out about it myself when I got off the tram just now....

  • Was that any good RHB? I was going to pop down but just ended up in Electrik, had a chocolate chipotle stout. Oddly amazing.

There's a CAMRA beer & cider fest on at the Velodrome in the new year which i'm pretty keen on going too.

  • Drank of lot of Ramsbury Gold over the weekend - previously thought of it as more of a summer beer & didn't really rate it but whatever they're doing differently now; I like. Special mention also goes out to Kennet & Avon "Rusty Lane".

I didn't get around to ordering my Belgians in time and now we're moving office so deliveries will be a pain in the arse. So, three from three for beers I don't remember drinking before..

    Dec 1. Perła Niepasteryzowana
    Dec 2. Newcastle Brown Ale
    Dec 3. Dragon Stout
    Dec 4. Meantime London Porter

  • Awesome label
This American beer ain't bad either

  • Where from? I just put through an order for some Brewdog stuff and will get my Belgian fix when we've finished the move. In the meantime (pun int) I'll be clearing the fridge of the Lakes District brews.

  • Brewed in Minnesota
Bought in offie in Kentish Town, Price of Wales road

    It's very easily done:

  • ^ Are they not all the same beer?

That's a bit boring, no? Or is this just a 'how-to' picture?

  • working my way through these

The Beagle was ace as always, didn't make it to the love beer festival. I always overlook Electrik, must pop in some time.

The January beer festival should be good, although think I'm agonisingly working in the building on the Saturday & Sunday, hope to sneek a pint after my shifts.

  • ^^ where did you get that sumo?
