Very true, could be worth it. Last time I had one in a pub though they charged me £4.50 for a bottle

Beagle is a winner, the new(ish) font in Chorlton has a pretty wide selection. Never any atmosphere in there though.

Ask yourself, "is it worth it?".

If you're a CAMRA member, you get 25% off ales in Font. Which is nice.

Are craft lager beers allowed in this thread? I discovered this really excellent one from Chapel Down whose English wines I was already a fan of: http://www.chapeldown.com/Products/102-curious-brew-brut-24-bottles.aspx

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good starter kit or guide for home brewing. I have a fairly large basement space (single garage sized) so have plenty of space. I'd rather something i have quite a large amount of influence over, is starting with a full mash kit a bad idea?

This is a great kit to start with.
However you can pick up the bits secondhand a lot cheaper but I'd recomend the Woodfords Werry. Lovely beer.

Smog Rocket is my favourite at the moment. That'll be costing you a fair old whack. Surely the fact they have very little in the way of distribution costs should mean reasonable prices. I don't mind paying £5 for good beer but it seems that's now the going rate everywhere.

£5 for what? A pint?

Yeah - if its something special. I do most of my drinking in Sam Smiths pubs however.

On a similar note and no where else to put it,
Leeds old town:-
Was in a Brooklyn Brewery pop-up bar last night. Bare walls, picnic tables and benches, plastic glasses, festival toilets and one till (you buy beer tokens on the way in)
£4.50 for 2/3 weiss. Very on-trend.
Around the corner a co-operative ran bar, similar building, white glazed brick walls, odd but comfy seating, flushing toilets and urinals. Has Yorkshire Lager at £2.30 + Sam Smiths bottled range (Barley Wine seems to have finished)
Horses for courses
They sell bottles. Don't see why they wouldn't let you buy a couple take-away.
