  • Guinness foreign extra, easy to forget they make an alright beer when they push the other crap so much. Also drinking tequila and mango juice, because I had free tequila and the shop only had mango juice, I like it.

  • oh yeah the sweet strong one,
    Im back on the Original,
with treats out of Oyster Stout,
its all about the Iron which is part of a healthy balanced athletic diet.

  • Googles Protein Beer...

  • Checks diary...

  • Had a pint of the Kernel Citra Pale Ale last night in the Dean Swift, veeeery expensive but hands down one of, if not the nicest drink I've ever had. Their batch was listed at 6.7%.

And my local Londis is doing bottles of this for £1! Only 2.7% but can't argue at that price.

  • Had some of Badger Ales' Hoppier one from Aldi for £1 each recently.

  • Had some Cartmel Hurdler recently.

Possible the nicest ale I've ever tasted. Incredible.

Try letting it go flat before drinking it, much nicer.

  • Spotting the Adnams above, I'm currently indulging in their Broadside Beer. It's fairly strong at 6ish% and is really tasty, they suggest it is good with a strong cheddar, so I've paired it with a pizza. Obviously.

Not very interestingly, an ex's father came from Southwold (Adnams' area) and raved about the beer. I once visited his old stomping ground and helped (almost singlehandedly, those lazy yokels) erected a fecking ginormous pub marquee. They paid me in booze, which was nice. I mainly drank port.

Oh, and similarly to snotty's tequila and mango juice combo, I've just polished off a bottle of Amarula, from South Africa, mainly by dousing it with strong coffee.

Interesting factoid - the first Guinness recipe, brewed in 1801 (and its in their museum in Eire), was the West India Porter. This was a precursor of the modern Guinness Foreign Extra. The well known modern Guinness (the famous black stuff) was a recipe that came along later.

West India, is also known as the West Indies, or as its better known abroad..........the Caribbean.

  • The Brains stout is loveliness itself......supremely drinkable, mild with a hint of sweetness. Not as thick as Guinness, and I like it for that.

The Youngs Double Chocolate stout is bitter, as in bitter black chocolate tasting. I abhor its normal flavour, but others may love it, especially people that like tart tastes. I stuck some Nestles Condensed Sweetened Milk in it, and enjoyed my (sic) Guinness Punch immensely.

The Keo is a beer/ale from Cyprus, and its sweetish, and has a strange sweet-wine consistency. Peculiar, but nice all the same. But it doesn't feel like an actual beer.

I'll report back on the others later.

  • Brains stout gets a meh from me, I find it pretty bland. Tried dark star 'Six hop' the other day. Pretty strong at 6.5% and fucking astonishing. Tried their 'Original' as well, ace.

    Jamaica..?

Hooky double stout, toasty, bitter and a bit chocolatey, good

Mackeson triple X (Carib brewery) is my benchmark for sweet stouts, mmm
