  • Seams like she's not a very good business woman. A northern pint with 10mm of head is about 40ml short of 568ml. You'd get an extra 5 pints per firkin which in London money is about £20.

8mm is about right up here I reckon. I will linger at the bar until the head has separated properly.

  • It was at the Brighton Craft Beer Co. They have two pubs in London so they may well have it there too.

It wont be £6 in that case, craft co tends to overcharge for the lack of seating and lack of kitchen at their place, if you are lucky you can get high on secondhand weed smoke that bike couriers smoke outside

They probably waste more than that getting rid of whatever traces of head there are into the drip tray.

  • The "sparklers" do seem overenthusiastic most of the time, if your bar of choice doesn't use flat stale barrels.

  • Had a bottle of fridge conditioned Purity Pure Ubu the other night, incredibly drinkable, as is it's wont.

Auto vacs sorts that one out. Although we have a beer engine with a sparkler fitted, without auto vacs, and I measured the wastage on the last barrel (72pint) including the sludge at the bottom of the barrel it was 5 pints. So price per pint eventually worked outat £1.20 and Sooo much nicer than bottled beer.

  • Have the Jolly Butchers got that Dark Star Imperial Stout on? We've got an inside line to that place haven't we?

The Brighton one is very reasonable and do some great pasties and sausage rolls.

However they do have the Evening Star only 5 minutes away which is a long established real ale boozer (and the original Dark Star brewery).

Evening star is the reason I have been to brighton 6 times and NEVER seen anything in brighton :P

You should see more of Brighton.

There are lots of good ale pubs apart from that one... ;-)

Still is at craft beer, dark star is my favorite

  • +1 to JCgarcia and Hops & Glory I had this yesterday and it was delicious and a bit dangerous at 10.2%:

You do realise that the name means 'hell and damnation', don't you? :)

  • Thornbridge St Petersburg Stout well worth hunting down. 7.4% so a strong'un.

  • ^ Couldn't really call it anything else when it's 10.2%

  • I know there's already quite a bit of St Peter's forum love, but tried their 'new' IPA at the Jerusalem last night. More hoppy that the old one. Proper tasty.

  • Just discovered that a shop near work has a small selection of Belgian beers. Bought myself a couple of bottles of Chimay with some matching glasses to enjoy when I get home :)

  • ...some matching glasses...
    Beer goggles?

  • Off to Craft Beer Co. after work tonight to see what new pleasures they have for me.
