  • And tonight, I'm nursing some Thwaites Wainwright. Very nice indeed.

  • I adore Belgian Beer - especially Duvel and Roquefort.

I drink pretty much any ale if I have not had it before. Love trying them out...

  • Badger Tanglefoot tonight.

    Better than last night's Wainwright.

    Stronger, richer, and quite smooth.

  • I adore Belgian Beer - especially Duvel and Roquefort.

    Roquefort is a cheese ffs

    You mean Rochefort

  • I'm all about the ale and stout, but unffortunately after downing a few guest ales in my local spoons tongiht i'm feeling a little fuzzled

  • Roquefort is a cheese ffs

    You mean Rochefort

the purpose of communication is to undrstand. that you did. who cars about spelling?

  • Snow Drop (Currently in the dove) is a good ale I had not tried before.
Also, being from Bristol I'm rather partial to any Bath Ales pint!

  • the purpose of communication is to undrstand. that you did. who cars about spelling?

    Pratini does.

  • This man is a hero.

  • Normally I just can't abide TV celebrity chefs - blame, J.Oliver; he's put me off them for life.

However, I was looking for more new beers to try, and came across the River Cottage Stinger.

Its from a Hugh Fearley-Whittingstall venture; and its "organic".

To tell the truth, I was totally open-minded, and prepared myself to be disgusted. I was wrong.

Its really a super sipping drink. Delicious.

  • Whoever wanted Mead.. You can get it here

    http://www.lindisfarne-mead.co.uk/

I already said thanks for the link, but I thought I'd also say, if anyone's interested in trying Mead (you should be!), one of Lindisfarne's retailers is Gerry's Wines and Spirits on Old Compton Street (off Wardour Street). It's £8.75 for a 70cl bottle and it's good stuff.

  • Went to the Amberely Ale festival last weekend and some the beers I tried there are some of the best I've ever had, most notably:

Ballards Polar Bear, which is unfortunately brewed especially for the festival and Bartrams Rougham Ready. If your a fan of light, fruity bitters then you'll love these two.

  • This has been posted as well on the alcohol thread, might go and try a few unknowns from the list.

  • Anyone going to the St Albans festival tomorrow? I am meeting friends there about noon, it gets too busy in the late afternoon.

  • I've over at herts uni atm, so i might bus over. What time does it start?

  • This stuff is lovely

  • If any of you are gonna do the C2C why not think about visiting one of the local brewery's i can recommend

  • I can't believe I haven't contributed (any crap) to this thread..

    I had this with lunch..

It tastes like bananas. It was odd. I liked it but I'm not sure it would be a regular choice.

  • I always see these banana beers, coffee beers, chocolate beers etc etc but have always passed them off as something of a novelty. I'm yet to try one that I like.

  • Me too, I like to taste the character of the barley and hops rather than anything they've added.

Having said that Fuller's Honeydew is a regular purchase.

  • I am about to hit Belgo for some serious trappist action

  • Moules Frites FTW!

  • In about an hour or so I'll be sitting down in The Maypole with a nice pint of Stonehenge Eye Opener, the only ale I've ever had that is over 4% and still tastes like a session ale. Lovely stuff.

  • quite partial to black sheep
