Do it.
I'm still undecided regarding Di2 or DA9000 on the TT machine. I tend to hang onto the levers quite a bit currently and I'd lose that if I moved to the buttons.

Party piece of Di2 is the front shifting - which if you stick to a single ring for TTing is not going to matter to you.

Depends on the course - Sussex 24hr had some short sharp bits that I was little ringin' but everything since I only use the big'un. There's also the easier cable runs though since I never build my bikes these days that's not much of a concern. Erec will not wear out.

hey roadie friends
is 2012 10s ultegra cheap at $860? -
• #1331
I wanna put silver campy back on the Alan at some point but dont want to spend alot
What era/level should I look at? Want nice shifting, silver/chrome, 9 or 10 speed thats quite easy to come by second hand
Will just be front+rear derailleurs and ergos

9 speed daytona/veloce does the job and is easy to pick up second hand cheap, should be able to the lot for well under 100.

Veloce 10speed ergos here coincidentally for 35quid:

hey roadie friends
is 2012 10s ultegra cheap at $860?Not really once you've paid for shipping and import tax. Merlin are usually the cheapest on groupsets, I think Ultegra is about 600.

Get 10spd Veloce stuff - pretty cheap and it works. Buy new stuff if you can afford - it works out cheaper in the long run.

First road bike noob: Choice between Sora and Veloce. I understand Veloce is on par with 105 so probably better than Sora, but does it "feel" different? Gonna do some test rides tomorrow.
Going otp and I prefer the frame with the Sora groupset.

Sora get's a bad rep. It's much better than it used to be. Not tried the 2013 but looks better than in previous years. Which is obviously the most important thing..
-
• #1337
^ This.
Sora's a lots better than the previous generation, I would says Veloce is closer to Tiagra than 105.
-
• #1338
Nope. Veloce over sora any day. Veloce is a good solid group tht has most of the func of better campag groups, but with a weight penalty. Sora is shit and breaks all the time.

• #1339
I would go apex if you have the option to be honest
-
• #1340
I read that as "I would go apeshit if...".

Lol

Until recently I had two bikes with Sora. Had them both for about 2 years, did about 8k miles on them, nothing broke. Having said that, I've got Veloce on the Crabboni Fibboni, and given the choice I'd go for the Veloce. Provided you don't have to fit it, as installing Veloce is a massive PITA.

Any of you electronic users. How maintenance free, peace of mind is it?
With a cable you can just change it if it breaks. But with electronic is it easy to fix? -
• #1344
I've been using Ultegra Di2 for the last year and it hasn't required any maintenance, adjustment or fixing. Obviously you still need to clean them, lube the jockey wheels etc. but the apart from charging the battery, nil.
Of course, if the cables get physically damaged then you're stuck, but that's not likely to happen in normal use.

paging dammit

Charged my battery at the start of the year, haven't touched anything since.
-
• #1347
Wow that's impressive.
Ultegra Di2 is very enticing at the moment.

• #1348
Why is there 27 pages when all there is to be said is "SRAM Force" or "SRAM red"?
-
• #1349
I had Force before Di2
-
• #1350
I almost read that in a "bro before hoes" kinda sentence.
I think I'm going to go Dura Ace (mechanical) when I change group in the summer.
