  • 1.i know how to spell "recognise", it was a gangsta typo.

sometimes i love being around in this day and age..

  • I thought it might be worth resurrecting this thread and letting you guys know what's going on.

The Safer Neighbourhoods team and the Police contact I now have, have been brilliant.
A couple of weeks ago I got a call asking me if I would be willing to go to court over this. I said yes of course, hoping that they had arrested someone. Sadly no, but the Policeman said that he had done a basic follow up and it looked to be more complicated than they first thought.

The van was registered to someone well known to the local Police, but he had sold it on, so they needed to trace the new owner. Since they had my commitment to them, they then carried out a dawn raid on the address where the van was registered (in Sutton). That drew a blank, the owners of the flat were not the suspects and had proof that they were not the registered owners and no-one else in the block had the same name either. so the documents for the van are falsified.
The Police have now entered the van's data into the National database and if it shows up on a ANP check they'll stop it. The guy I've been dealing with says that given the previous owner's reputation he doubts that they'll be able to get the new owner to give them the passenger's details even if they do catch him. The dodgy address will allow them to do a lot more than charge him with dangerous driving or the passenger with assault though...

So for those of you who ride through Balham, Tooting or out around Sutton, if you see a plain grey transit with the first part of the reg T753 (an easy one for cyclists to remember) keep well away.
If you do know where something matching that is parked up, let me know the other half of the reg (I have it) and we'll let the Police know.

  • repost, but a goodun.

really good you're taking this to the police, people don't tend to do that and a lot of shit goes unreported. i've had people spit at me, stuff thrown at me and people try to push me off but sadly never got number plates or had the balls to get off my bike and d-lock to the face.

am heading down the a24 today, will keep my eyes open.
