  • To be honest I just sent out some samples to whoever PM'ed me and sent an address . I've made about 15 mallet heads and have given them all away, would be really interested in any feedback and preferences about drilling and colours and sizes etc.
I reckon i'll bring a load up to Manchester for the tourney , but i'm going to have to start charging for them and doing a basic warranty. I'm going to just cover costs plus my time and donate any profits to Cambridge Polo tournament funds . I thought an exchange for uncapped pipe could be cool too . If anyone else wants some let us know .

  • Hey Harvey, what machine are you using for the welds?
Would like to give it a go Oz-side.

  • Awesome tool.

  • tool porn, harvey is god.

my cap is great, no movement last night, makes a lovely sound with one end uncapped.

personally i think i prefer abs caps though, they definitely play better. Shooting with ABS is great.

Can you work with ABS and HDPE on one pipe?

  • I think ABS is too flammable so fusion joints wouldn't work.

  • feels heavy even with the holes, I may drill it a bit more

  • Rik, what's happening with the pole there, not going all the way through - how did you do that? Have you drilled into the pipe a little?

  • yeah, Mo mallet style, drilling very carefully not to go all the way throught
I'm drilling with one of this

  • and using a mo mallet bolt?

  • yeah rik nice work. TIDY!!

  • no, no using anything, I dont know how is the nut that is fix inside Mo's mallet
I will like to know, tho

  • Rik whats spanish for:

  • muchísimas gracias!!!!

  • rik whats spanish for "ray can't speak catalan and is a fuck wit" >?

  • ha!

  • feels heavy even with the holes, I may drill it a bit more

You reckon maybe slim down the end-cap next time , what thickness are the Lucky heads ?

  • harvey, how good is the fusion between the two plastics? yesterday I was a bit afraid of drill near the join.
I'm going to play tomorrow with it, and see how it feels. Most probably I will butcher it a bit more.

I dont know about slimming down the cap? we will have to see how strong the end-cap is. The caps made out chopping board last me acouple of games. If slimming down means compromise in strengh, maybe no.

Lucky heads, from memory, are pretty similar in thickness to this one.

  • I guess it's ok to go right up to the join , a lot of luckys seemed to do that , although i was a bit scared of taking that bit out . Mine are all still going strong and getting pretty well worn down though. I get the impression is that if the bond is shit you know about it pretty quickly . I've done enough now to reckon i know the best temperature and psi , just interested in how you all find them , some of the earlier ones are better than others :S . I have found a massive improvement in accuracy , definitely not going back to open ends . You're right about the weight though , some serious drilling required .

  • my next one will double cap.

  • Got it this morning, thanks Harv. Will give you a full report.

  • at then end I end up butchering the head properly, weight weenie....
it hold perfectly, and it is very nice to shoot with, I will be gettimg more
