  • I saw one of those at Greifmasters. Morgan mentioned it was somewhat his idea or something. Neither of us was completely convinced that the attachment method would prevent the head from spinning on the shaft given enough use...

  • offset, angled, whatever- mallet heads shouldn't be bigger than 2 1/4" in circumference, longer than 7", or drilled out with holes bigger than 1". you're meant to shuffle and hit the ball, not drag and whip it. my personal feeling is that mallets should be double capped as well, but until the materials are readily available i don't see that happening anytime soon.

  • this game is so young, i love these endless debates.

    #completelygenuinenosarcasm

  • Big Hitters only, look here .

eerrrr whist tilting your head 90 degrees anti clockwise

Are Cambridge ditching the longest thinnest mallet heads ever?

  • There are still a few "cambridge thins" knocking about .However It's all about capped ends here these days , seems to improve making the ball go in the direction you would like it to .

  • i love these

    crumbled over some live yoghurt.

  • oh me too, ginger thins for the wins :)

  • hey harvey...Only just thought of this with a work mate reckon this might be better?

...down side is that its for double enders only.

  • brilliant idea.

the longer the bolt, the more potential for it to bend and snap though, maybe?

  • that's brilliant! would it not be a bit of a bitch trying to line up the hole in the mallet shaft with the whole in the caps, when drilling? extra long drill bit?

not if you went to 5m i reckon that'll be fine.

nah well easy, drill the pole first.

I reckon you could even do one sided and only take the bolt to the side of the pole. Like the other single bolt fixings about.

....also means that you could probably drill the head a bit more.

  • like a brake bolt fitting threaded but with a hex key hole.... you could use threaded rod and cut to the right length.

  • how you fix the caps to be replaceable?

sorry for the edit, thinking and writing at the same time

  • undo the bolt. replace the caps. I think it'll work its worth a go.

  • looks good

  • Genius !
I like the way you can replace the caps before they wear out . Plus you could machine them out of something lighter , harder wearing ?

    I guess...

I like how everything is replaceable :)

    Reckon you can make one?

  • Nice idea ray, but if you take hard shots, surely the force is going to travel the length of the bolt/bar and push the cap off the other end?

  • bolt reverb?

  • Single end cap version - allan key bolt at pole end.

  • and at the cap end?? how is the attach??

  • recessed nut?

  • could just counter sink

  • Ray said double ender.

    snigger

  • am i wrong in assuming the longer the bolt going through the pole the more leverage and force/strain/stress upon the drilling in the pole?
