Just to make you all aware...the Marlon is about 6" smaller height wise than it looks in those pics....imagine the flap coming right down to the bottom and that's its actual height...it's about 3" lower in height,2" narrower from the side, and the same width (to allow it to fit a 15" laptop) as the Archie/Bill.
It's the perfect size for most people.
Personally i prefer to have a bigger bag, so my own bag i use the most is my Bill.
Also, the Marlon doesn't come with a top x-strap because in my opinion it really doesn't need it.

Just so you know, it's actually big enough to fit a 17inch laptop too once you extend the compressor on the side (The Marlon that is).

the Marlon is definitely big enough for that, that's the beauty of Scott's bag is that it's quite flexible in sizing.

I do apologise scott, after deciding on the Theo a year ago, I end up changing my mind and think the Marlon will be sufficient enough for me.

Ahh I used to carry shitload with my tiny Chrome purse* to the point that I end up sewing 2 extra strap on it and some old tent cover to wrap it all up since the flap didn't even managed to cover up the bag when I was carrying 2 large format camera, a digital and 35mm SLR plus 3 heavy tripod to uni.

*(literally a purse compare to Leonie's Archie!).

By the way, my Archies is a Marlon and it's the perfect size - good choice!

Ed, in your first pic of the Marlon next to your Chrome, is that a Chrome Citizen? Just interested as I have a Citizen at present and it's too damn small.

scott (or emilie), what size/shape/name/flavour bags do you have at the factory/homestead? I was unsure between archie and theo when I joined this adventure. I've still never seen one of these in the flesh and I'd like to to help me choose.

Being totally honest the Theo is fucking huge, I can't see you needing it for your purposes as you could pack your current timbuk to full capacity and still fit it inside the Archie with plenty of room to spare.

I'm slowly coming around to this way of thinking... although in the dimensions that are against your back the Theo is only a couple of inches bigger in each direction than an Archie, so I'm not sure you'd really notice that?

Scott explained this to me once, and as I remember understanding him, the load doesn't come out asymmetrical at all, as you have means of adjusting it with straps, depending on your requirements. That may be imperfect understanding, though. It was a very intricate explanation.

correct, it sits more like a ruc-sac, evenly on both shoulders with the supplies x-straps

Can your bags be modified to be ambi-shouldered™? Heavy bags, asymmetric loads and my spine don't go together well at all.

Might I point you towards an Archie's back pack? They are ace and have two strap symmetry. :^)
