I did this last year. Bit gimmicky but quite fun and some decent stash at the end.
21 miles with some crazy amount of ascent and descent, it took my legs a while to recover from that one.
I heard that this year might be the last one as it hadn't taken off quite how they had hoped. Possibly because there is a pretty full fell running calendar anyway.
Has anyone got round to signing up for that trail running event in about 2 weeks?

Looking on FRA there's no shortage of events locally. Was it pricier as Redbull involved? That may explain low uptake, particularly for b.o.p. types who don't want to pay 21 mile entry fee for missing 8 mile cut and long walk back to start point.
Guy on train yesterday had a nice looking hoody on from it.
With apologies if missing the obvious... What's the trail run in 2 weeks?

Prediction: The two hour barrier will stand for another 50 years.

When you return to sea level you're gonna feel like a baws.

friend of a friend is organising it. I signed up for the half.
the hoodys are nice. only being able to drink redbull and diluted redbull all run wasn't so great.

I like the idea of races specifically accessible by train, nice.
I don't like the idea of redbull as a running event drink. No wonder it hasn't taken off as they'd hoped!

I wonder if they had a higher than normal vomit-count at the finish?

you doing Yassos?

@HatBeard - a mate at work just asked me the same question - but I hadn't heard of them until this morning! It sounds like an interesting correlation. Have you tried it?
It's only my second week with Highgate Harriers, so I just turn up and do whatever the coach says the session is. I think it was just a general interval session, but there were at least a couple of people training for a marathon in the group. Personally, I'm just working on improving my speed and may run some cross country races over the winter.

Just plotted a nice 5k loop from home taking in some of Putney Heath. Also a 10k loop that uses Putney Heath, a bit of Wimbledon Common and then Richmond Park, but I need to get my weight down and build fitness before I think about 10k.

Perfect morning for running. Sunshine, fresh, still. Enjoy.

Yasso
It would be interesting to do a data scrape from Strava of people's 800m & marathon times to find out what the actual correlation is.
You could also work out the correlation for other distances, a la Mcmillan (where
t2 = t1.(d1/d2)^k)Current received wisdom is that this is based of a constant of 1.06

^ Interesting, never seen that before.
I'd planned on aiming for a 45 minute 10k (eventually!) with a 4h marathon in mind. That formula suggests that a 52:10 would "do".
(Of course I understand the limitations and generalisations of a single formula.)

I thought it was the 800m pace you could hold over 10 reps, so wouldn't it be difficult to get the Strava data? I'm skeptical, as I did my 8 x at sub 2 minutes 53 seconds, but I doubt I could successfully train to do a 2.53 marathon.

Good point.
I wonder how Yasso sourced the data - I can't find it published anywhere.
So I call meh on it's accuracy as a predictor.
As a workout - I guess 8 x 800 is as good as any interval session for speed work.

Does anyone have any experience of Extensor Tendonitis?
I have a feeling I may have a touch of it - am getting pain on the top of my foot and bottom of my shin after running, and not sure what else it may be.
Does this sound like the right diagnosis? And is rest the only treatment? I run in quite old shoes (that I got after a gait analysis) which may be contributing.

Re: the railtotrail run... I am super keen but it's my cousin's 1st birthday so I need to work out timings, and potentially learn how to run at twice my normal speed. If I can't do the 1st one I will definitely do the others in the series, I think they're a great idea.

I'm pacing again doing the 8 min miles!

Ah, my mistake - thought you found it too hot and were considering flogging it.
I'll continue my search for one - I had thought that I'd deffo manage to find one in the Land Of the Free, but no joy.

anyone running the royal parks half on sunday? will be out cheering on the run dem crew around the mile 10 mark. throw up some gunfingers if you spot us and need a little boost.
Quite possibly, that's why I bought the HR/SpO2% thing with me as I (probably mistakenly) thought that jet lag wouldn't affect oxygen saturation.
