I managed to finish Paris. I found it really hard. Between miles 18 and 22 it was a proper torture. I walked and had massive cramps from the little hills. After mile 22 I managed to run at a snail pace without stopping, last half took me more than 1/2 hr more than first half 1h:50min. Finished in 4h 04 49 sec, well slower than my goal. I am glad I finished and didn't end up in an ambulance, though. Tough shit
Now I am resting a bit and I will start training for NY

I hope the Yorkshireman in question consented

Had a "long" run this lunchtime. 6.5k at an easy pace, increasing towards the end. Sun was out but not too hot, felt pretty good! Took about 40 mins.

sorry for the spam, but does anyone want a Garmin forerunner 305 - its big but very very good! includes speed, distance, time, HR with included strap, cadence with non included sensors and is more than capable of being both a running and bike computer.
Comes with charger, cradle, soft premium HR strap (about 2 months old), and a quick release strap with a quick release bike mount.
just bought a 910xt as I'm a slevless and the 305 doesn't do swimming...
Don't know how much to ask but given what it comes with does £70 sound fair?
Sounds like a massive bargin.
I have the 910xt, and have to say selling my bike puter, and basic running watch for a Nice unit that does both. Was something I've never regretted.

I'm on hols in Pembrokeshire at the moment and have been running along the cliff top paths every day. Lots of uneven ground and steep sections. The views have been stunning though, seen dolphins, gannets, guillemots and yesterday in very nearly stepped on an adder warming itself in the later afternoon sun. Trod carefully after that. Best runs of my life. Last one today. Going to wait till late though as my balding bonce is sunburned to buggery. Wales in early April. Who'd a thunk?

Anyone picking up their number for London today? I was going to ride over but I can't find my d lock - haven't touched it since my crash in December and now I've lost the damn thing. Looking to chain up with someone if I can.

I just had a really satisfying run with perfect rhythm, along the capital ring route from Highbury upto Highgate and back. Such a nice evening!

Good luck all, I would normally say I'm jealous of such an event, but instead of running around London for 3-4hrs I have a week away in Yorkshire, so will be exploring the Dales.

Yeah have a great marathon out there VLM crew. Remember while youre banging it out the Greek origins of the ultimate race and be proud! And ignore that chimp at mile 20 ffs

Thanks guys. At the beginning of this week I was terrified (visibly so, to the amusement of my colleagues) then I spent a lot of time thinking positive thoughts and imagining myself finishing (positive mental attitude and all that) and got quite excited about it! This evening it's all come crashing down and I feel like crap and just want to cry and hide under my duvet instead of running. Who fucking knows what tomorrow will bring.

Got a tenner on Moe to win - think I was over excited.
Want to hedge my bet.. what odds with anyone give me on Hatbeard breaking down at Mile 20? -

First Saturday in ages not working or childcare so just back from local Parkrun, sub 20 but not sure what exactly until results published.
Was cold enough to wear gilet throughout = could carry phone so did strava it plus runs there and back. Data central.
Soon be too warm for gilet, happy days.

OK so coming to this party pretty late but I am marathoning tomorrow. My Achilles tendon is quite swollen despite not having run on it for over a month. (not the best prep, I know). Any positive, last minute things I can do to ease the tightness in my calf prior to tomorrow morning. I've had a bit of physio but no more time for that so any suggestions? I had hoped to do it in 4'-4'30 but that's gone out the window now - just hoping to finish without injuring myself permanently. It's all for a good cause though (www.justgiving.com/jolyonwhaymand if anyone's feeling pitiful).
any suggestions for how to spend today? I had planned a short run with lots of stretching to try to loosen up. Thoughts?
No, no - have a good look round so you can tell me if there's anything worth buying. And pet the puppies at the Guide Dogs stand.
