Your current mileage is epic.

I ran 20 miles yesterday, I have more friction burns to add to the collection now.
I'd planned a loop beginning/ending at my house but thanks to getting lost somewhere in the middle I reached 20 still a couple of miles from home, and couldn't summon the strength to run any further (also I didn't think it would be a good idea). Although it wasn't far it was an awkward route with 2 buses, and I messed up the connection so it took me over an hour to get home. Next time I do this I'm having a support car.
Also, next time I do this I might eat something afterwards - a bowl of Special K and a packet of mints didn't really cut it and I'm so freaking hungry today.

^^did 55 last week and I had 2 days off... :-s
well done hats. sounds like an eventful run but not as fraught with the usual calamities so that's got to be a win. y u no gorge on food though? that's the main reason for running.

i'm doing rubbish in the mileage challenge this month compared to last month though. missed the first two days so everyone has the jump on me which is luckily enough for me to not obsess over it like I did last month.

20 miles hats. Good going! Miles in the legs.

I'm more concerned with the grandfondo. Need to be putting in the saddle time.
But the weather* having turned insane. I can see myself running all month.
(*had blue sky + sun, gale force winds, brutal hail, blanketing snow, and sideways rain. All just this morning.)

Obviously this is a ridiculous question because it's an even more personal thing than shoes, but can I have some sock suggestions please?
I've always used cheapo Karrimors due to price, longevity and the fact they feel pretty good. Quality has definitely decreased and my newer pairs don't last that long and don't really feel that comfortable either.
What should I try?

1000 miles socks

My feet don't seem to be very sensitive any more, but it stopped getting bad blisters when I started using x socks, I still have one of my original pairs 3 years later after running in them a lot!

X-socks are well nice. Turn up in T-Maxx for cheap occasionally.
I think 1000mile socks have a double layer. So friction occurs between layers and not between Your foot and the sock.

I have a pair of the ridiculous looking injinji toesocks in the post to me at the moment, it appears I tend to mostly get blistering between two of my toes and these seem to come highly recommended. If they're no cop I plan on trying a pair of the drymax maximum protection ones from the same place...
http://www.ultramarathonrunningstore.com/Trail-Running-Socks-s/1879.htm
my shoes choice is the right one for me I think (nike flyknit) but they are prone to rub the achilles if not laced properly and in the wrong socks can cause a bit of a hotspot on the front foot pad by the little toes where I do most of my striking so a bit of anti blister protection and additional padding is welcomed.

I find that toesocks make my feet a lot bigger
-
• #8266
I also have some anti-chafe stuff on order as the warmer weather has increased rubbage in stuff that was completely fine before so hedging my bets a little. am sure a bit of that on the toes in some normal socks would be fine if the toesocks make the fit of my shoes weird.
in non-marathon related running talk if I wanted to get into trail running over the summer what's the best way of doing so if I'm based down on the edge of surrey? talking mostly training type runs but might sign up for something later in the year.

Vasoline on the nipples.
Definitely try trail running. Much fun, and better for the legs too

oh and by getting into I mean organised type stuff or maybe places to find info on decent trails not 'how do I run on a trail'

These are some of mine:
- Nike elite socks - I have both the no show cushion socks (comfy) and anti-blister versions (not really anti-blister, but I find they're fine for short runs)
- Hilly mono skin trail socks (these are pretty warm, very lovely and cosy though)
- 1000 mile slevless socks (my new favourite socks)
In the winter I ran wearing smartwool snowboarding socks a couple of times and they were surprisingly comfy, as well as lovely and warm.

Whoever makes the Brixton Cycles cycling socks, I find them great for running in.

Jim does. He has his own loom.

Last nights club session was a bit crap, a couple of weeks of lax training and drinking too much meant that others had caught me up, and one legitimately took my strava cr on the hill we do intervals on, I was a few seconds away from my best though....
The coaches strava has given him the CR as well, which given that he finished 30 seconds behind the pack on each interval is hard to believe...
Chuck some lighter shoes on, and do a few fast 6km runs?
Yesterday I was in an old pair of Kayanos. Wanted the cushioning cuz I was tired. But it kinda feels like riding With flat tyres. Felt so slow.
