Club running session had even less people this week but was slightly less vomit inducing, now to get numbers back up, I don't like being the first or last person in a session (or in last nights case the first, only and last person)

I stravad again. It was tougher than most of late for various reasons, but fun.

I'm slowly getting back into this putting one foot in front of the other at an increased pace to normality.
It was cold enough this morning that I couldn't move my hands when I got back in- which is strange as it wasn't actually that cold.
It was slower than I'd've liked though. -

I squeezed 10km in before a dinner with my bosses. Got back to my hotel room 10mins before dinner. Was still wet from my shower at the table but meh.
6 year PB of 46:30 despite having to dodge traffic and pets. Half marathon challenge next. From a purely personal comparison. Comparing with recent years I'm bloody fast.
Just need to get up there on the bike too.
Happy days.

Good news SF and eyebrows.
Waking up in the morning and going running now feels less of a faff as only half the amount of kit is needed, I even managed to cycle the 30 miles into the office and back yesterday which must mean it's spring!
Off to Cornwall for a long weekend tonight which among other good things means I can do my favourite run/ fitness test!

This weather is definitely making things easier.
Just had a surprisingly good run in. Just need to not bail on the run home now. -

been looking at my max hr stats on garmin connect & strava and think I've got them set way too low. my forerunner is on auto-detect and says max hr is 184 but one of my runs after a hard week recently shows a max hr of 203.
http://www.strava.com/activities/114984428/overview
ultimately it makes naff all difference to my training as I'm not training using hr at the moment, but would be interesting to know what kind of zones I'm actually training at in comparison with how hard I could be if I went all out.

Could the 203 be an anomaly, or are you regularly hitting that? Worth completing a recognised Max HR session to determine the correct value.

I've got another hard run I did in 2010 with a similar reading and a couple that hit 194/196 but i definitely don't get near that typically.

Ran home yesterday then in this morning and I am struggling not to fall asleep now.

Just been confirmed as a pacer for the Kingston breakfast run - feel like a pro runner now!
(Not really pro, but getting to help others achieve their goal and running for free will be fun!)

That's a bit personal surely!

I don't run but for lent I decided to go running every day.
I planned a 4 mile route that took me up, down and around Telegraph Hill, taking in Jerningham, Pepys, Vesta etc.
I ran it in a bit over half an hour and felt good afterwards, all except the intensely tight pain on the outside of my thighs. Anyone else get this? Was it the hills? Is this just normal for a first run? -
• #8172
Yeah that sounds about right cheers Dammit.
I run up and down stairs all the time though. I had to do it all day for years in a building with 9 flights of stairs. How can a little run cause so much pain?! -

Just knocked over 3mins off this. Legs weren't strong. But I was in the mood to punish myself. Fecked now.

Good going. My legs are screwed right now, but when they are better I'll have a go at seeing how fast I can get past 10k.

Nice one SF.
I've not got anywhere near my 'fast' 5k/10k times in months, so frustrating. tempted to try and smash a 5k on the second 3mi interval in next tuesdays strength drills. was running between 7:00 and 7:30 for a lot of the 2 mile ones yesterday and hadn't really opened up the tanks that much.but that was coming off a rest day and having had the weekend off. will see how i feel when I get the 40 miles I have to cover over the next 4 days out of the way first.
The cat ate it of course.
