  • If we all did the run in 2.45 where would that put us in the overall standings, if we did the cycle in the same time as last year?

I could of course look at the results myself, but they've not put them up in English- only in Norwegian.

    Looking at this now.

    The double.
    20 competitiors last year.
    11th place = Ride 1:36, Run 2:45.

    The run.
    71 competitiors (20 - 39 years) last year.
    59th place = 2:45

    The ride.
    72 competitiors (30 - 39 years) last year.
    35th place = 1:35

Difficult to compare given the way they are separated into age groups. We're already at the quick end of the ride. Theres a lot of riders doing 1:25 - 1:35. But mountain running is a sport in itself here. Competiting with those folk is futile.

  • It's all about the run, agreed.

If I'd done the run in 2:45 in 2013 I'd have been 11th.

  • Yep, aware that it's possibly a goal too far, but may as well try.
    The time is achievable.

    But looking dashing?

    Hmmm....

  • I'm going to target the 2013 times of the rather splendidly named Rune Skaar.

  • I quite like the look of those targets myself, smallf - Assuming I can drop 5kg by Summer.

Yeah. The ride time of 1:35 is going to be tough (well not for Dammit I guess*). Its shaving minutes off an already decent effort. I know we cruised last year. But I wasnt far off my ouch zone.

If we're (by which I mean me) fit to run the whole way. Then 2:45 should be within all of us. I may pace myself at 7:30/km out of optimisim. But I want to test that.

(*Dammit needs to do the ride in 1:30 though. Based on maintaining 275w)

Hes rides with Sula. Which are the folk just across the fjord from me.

I'll scoot off and check him against myself on Strava.

I love that you can say stuff like that.

    Last year I averaged 265 watts/169bpm for 1:35: http://tpks.ws/5SeM

The real nice thing is that we all do the same Strava segments. Which shows hes a tad faster than me historically. But also that hes ridden half as far s me this year.

If you were 75kg then the 10w increase is whats netting the 5min saving. Its just a bikecalculator.com guesstimate though.

  • I was closer to 80kg then I think.

  • I'm not doing a race, Ciq - I am participating in an event.

    Competitive eating race?

  • I was closer to 80kg then I think.

Probs just a poor calc by me then. That would hint at you being able to achieve 1:30 by putting in the same effort and simply being 5kg lighter.

In March last year my FTP was 266w. Now in Feb its already at 276w. So all things being equal. I should be quicker than last year.

My June calender contains 1200km of riding, and 8000m of ascent. So I'm just hoping to survive.

  • A weird thing happened on my run home last night - running along minding my own business when a guy walking in the opposite direction grabbed me by the shoulder and threw me against a brick wall. To say I was a bit shocked would be an understatement. He strode off and I turned to shout at him, only to see him pushing someone else into the road. Completely nuts.

  • Did he look like a scruffy stoned northener?

The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony - YouTube

  • He probably wanted to see the dinosaurs

Did you report this to the police? He'll probably push a kid into a moving bus

  • Not for a bit I don't think, I'll let you know if I am, otherwise don't worry.

I'm not at home this week but back on Sunday. Let me see if I can wedge them in a Jiffy bag. PM me your address in case I succeed. Sorry for delay.

    Will do

    Cheers

Actually this is not true, I've looked it up and I was 77kg, so huge gains are not going to be found from being slightly lighter this year.

  • -2kg and +5w then.

  • Duathlon thread >>>>>

  • It'll be a triathlon if i can get hold of several pairs of these....

  • ^Bowel loosening terror is my reaction to the thought of going down Dalsnibba on those.
