Manchester xc league, 9.6km according to the hand drawn course map.
Set off at a fast pace spent 2 laps with a guy who finished 5 mins ahead of me last time out, faded big time on lap 3 to be expected as total training is a 7 mile commute every Weds.
The mud was muddy, the wind was windy.
Will get and share my time when the results are published.

Good luck. Nice socks there on Kate, I thought about trail shoes today as course was flat and would've made for less to carry on run over & back but spikes were appreciated so glad I took them.

Thinking of starting to run to work.
Looking for route suggestions from Brixton to Wimbledon.
The least likely to result in me being run over... -

Mrs Sparky said on this morning's run that she'd like to do a 10km together later this summer. Can anyone recommend a fun one to do? Bear in mind it'll be her first. Also, bonus points if it's somewhere nice that we can combine with a couple of nights in a hotel and a mooch around.

16.7 miles in a headwind up and down the hills in richmond park.
Will upload to strava tomorrow. Time to relax in my fancy minibreak hotel room in richmond and recover.

Did the same today, but spent 5k along regents canal against the wind. The 3k with tailwind back home was great though

Sounds brilliant, but not an easy course for a first half...

It was a little windy today, wasn't it.I didn't drag myself out of the house until gone midday, by which time I guessed that you had already left.

If she did this as her first, a second flat one around a small towns closable roads (probably dull in comparison) will be like a walk in the park ;)

Sparky - this is in August I think (page not adapting to mobileternet well) and should be a nice gentle one

Just went for a trot around la rosierre, 4 miles but the only enjoyable but was once I actually got onto a ski run, as the rest was just running around on heavily concocted snow, will head out in a different direction tomorrow night and see how high up I can get!
Fun!

Nice. Floated the idea to her. Cheers.

Alarm went off at 6.30 this morning, adding an interesting rhythmic accompaniment to the howling gale blowing outside.
I decided that I didn't want to ride my bike (well, I did, but I didn't want to do so in the gale blowing outside) so I went for a run instead.
Nowhere near Hatbeard's Marathon preparations, I ran a very slow 13.5 miles around my ends, including a lap of Herne Hill velodrome.
First 3k I had my on-again/off-again severe shin pain, however I know it goes by kilometre 4 so I just got on with it.
Anyone got an idea as to how to make that not happen at all?

Hey Sparky
Few sporting events id recommend in the UK over most that can be found abroad.
The RIVIERA CLASSIC is a great race.
Starting in Italy, through france and finish running along the F1 track in Monaco.
Although 23.8km on paper but it goes over cap-martin so it feels more like 30.There is a 10km distance on offer too

20 miles done yesterday, average pace 7:55. Average pace for the first 17 miles: 7:45. Average pace last 3 miles: 8:40. Ouch.
On the plus side, when I got home I ate peanut butter with a spoon and felt entirely justified.
turns out my training was a 6 miler tonight (5 tomorrow). but I did my run so it finished at a pub in morden where I met Rowhan for a few drinks (lovely place, some men were watching porn openly on an ipad in the middle of the room).
3 pints later I leave for the mile walk home and realise it's freezing in my damp running clothes so end up running home instead.
you have a one and a bit mile lead still so you're safe for now :)
