First run today since Brighton mara - 12 slow kilometers - legs felt light, but very tired still. No hip flexor problems, thankfully.

Been doing my 300 calf lifts/leg/day for a week now, really champing at the bit to go for a run now- hopefully a pain free, fast one!

Doing a trial with berkshire tri squad, shit name, but they are pretty organised and so far friendly over email.
5k done in 22 minutes, felt comfortable but could still feel the remnants of tears in my calves, will probably try a longish run on Sunday at dorney lake and hopefully be back to full fitness next week.

^ Just don't start doing foot races in a tri suit!

I plan to do my next marathon in a white tri suit, compress sport calf guards, newton trainers and a white visor, oh and matching white oakleys.
Although bloody difficult to take a pee in, unless you do a paula...

Arm warmers - don't forget the arm warmers. The ones that also cover the shoulders.
Real slevless just pee as they run though.

Just done my weekly 10k. Felt ish so took it slow, guilt started to set in in the last 2k so did a few sprints. Checked strava when done and turns out I just did my fastest ever 10k, just over 50 mins.

Trained for a marathon 3 years ago but got sick and never ran it. Gotten chubby since then and got back to running again this week - feels super.
Aiming to do a few miles a day, a few days a week and build from there to a marathon next year.

First run in over a month, had a slightly dodgy stomach as well. Thought I was gonna do a Radcliffe.
Slowest 10k ever. Boom!

I just bought my first pair of running shoes. I was using these (which are CLEARLY unsuitable) to run with my GF, nothing major, just a few 3/4k runs. I loved it, and have noticed I'm sleeping better and I feel fitter on the bike. Bonus.
Only issue was he shoes, due to lack of support I was running solely on the balls of my feet. I've been having a few issues with the ankle/shin joint on my left leg - but only during/after running - so I'm hoping that getting some proper shoes (these) and going running with some slightly faster guys will increase my fitness overall and solve my leg pain problem. I've been converted.

First run bar a few 5km plods since my IT band devestating half marathon about 6 weeks ago.
Did just over an hour, can tell my pathetic legs aren't used to it, super-tight calf and achey thigh now. Had a sweat inducing foam roller session this evening to try to pre-empt any pain tomorrow. Kinda enjoyed the run though.

It's official, the ankle pain wasnt caused by the shoes exclusively. The new 'proper' running shoes have greatly reduced the effect, but also appear to have spread it; instead of experiencing tenderness and pain in my left ankle, I am now getting an ache in both ankles. It's only a minor issue though, and having just done my first solo run, I'm pretty happy. 4.4km in 27;14. I like. :)

It'll take a while to get used to the difference between walking shoes and trainers and they'll tire different muscles in different ways, take it easy.
After a very delayed morning, I'm off!
Probably only run 10k but its a lot better than nothing!

First run in a couple of weeks yesterday, so first run post physio appointment.
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/304043670
First off, running with a straight spine feels much better- not being curved to one side and therefore running a bit sideways seemed much more efficient.
Also felt quite strong, which was nice, and there was nothing from the soleus injury until kilometre 6 when it started to hurt, so I backed off and stopped, walked the rest of the way home.
I'll carry on with the 300/day/leg calf raises as it's clearly working, and at some point I'll have strengthened my soleus enough to not tear it again.
Winner!

Hmm, might be the achilles, anyone know a sure fire way of telling?
-
• #5321
If that's towards me I'm almost certain it isn't - I may be completely wrong, but my pain is at the front, slightly on the inside, about 2 inches above the actual ankle joint. My mum is a nurse and her best mate is a physio so I will talk to them about what it might be, and ease off a bit for now.

Im going to bite the bullet and invest in some Flyknit Trainers tomorrow. Since I sprained my ankle a few months back barefoot style running (using Vivobarefoot) has made running any significant distance painful. Being what my mum calls a Chunky Monkey (6'2" and 15st) I want something with some cushioning.

I did something stupid last night while drunk... I entered the ballot for the london marahon.
Please please please let my bad luck prevail and let me NOT win a place.

I can walk upstairs fine- therefore I don't think it is soleus, I think I may have done something to the Achilles.
Wel done!
It may sound obvious but the longer you run the easier you'll find 10k, I'm not talking marathon distance but if you can jog 15 then running 10 is a lot more comfortable!
