How did you go Sparky?
I tried to look for you when I passed the 2hr group but never having met you made it a bit tricky.
Ran 1hour 28minutes and 40 Seconds.
Really pleased!

Good time! Sorry we didn't get to meet up.
My time was sub-two! Not sure exactly what yet, but I'm chuffed to bits.

Just downloaded the McMillan running app, not the greatest app in the world but I've been using his website for a few years so thought I'd give a little back.
Which reminds me I need to do something about my lack if gold star in this joint...

Your chip time gives you another 30 seconds off!
-
• #4858
Yeah, next time I'm going to carry 30 chips, in the hope that it knocks 15 minutes off... Huge well done to you on your time - staggering.

Well done chaps, good work.
I've pulled something in my calf playing squash- what can I do to magically fix it in order to be able to go and ride my bike tomorrow?
-
• #4860
no magic wands available you might want to get some hot and cold treatment going on though.
nice jobs on the raceyourpace there. good efforts. my course cancelled!
which means a 9.1 race on Studland heath in the morning before manning first aid tent- ooh yeah

Good old rice dammit.
I presume amoung your other kitt you have a hypoxic tent?..! [insert wink here]
My time today was a massive surprise, a combination of a little goading from my friend who came 15th pointing out that there's not much point signing up to a race with pacers and not using them and the pan flat course. (And maybe running 80km+ a week for the last 3 months)
I now have the dilemma of what to do in London, my aim is a good for age qualification at 3.10 but there's no pacer for that only sub 3, so I think given how fantastic the pacer was today I should train for that and see how I go, no guts no glory and all that...
-

I think you should just keep working at your own distance preferences,
theres always someone ahead of us in races, you will know by now from results/ club mates whos putting in the times/ places around where you wanna be so why worry about paced events? go for it. -

Hoping to celebrate the warmer weather with my first 10 miler tomorrow... longest I've done to date is about 8.8. Got a nice route along the lea river and canal mapped out, unfortunately I can't avoid a final schlep up Essex Road / through Newington Green but tough shit. Imagine I'll feel so spannered by then I won't really know what's going on anyway
If that's ok then the half marathon in 4 weeks should be in the bag.

London marathon has pacers. I think based on today they are worth 10 minutes over a marathon, so do I try to go on my own for 3.10 or with a pacer and bag a sub 3?
Tough one but the sub 3 is a great prize to bag...

^^
Following on from the above... after a night of insomnia, just back from my biggest run yet, which actually turned out to be 10.4miles... 1 hr 18mins. Pretty chuffed.Last 10 minutes were pretty nasty, and running up Essex Rd was turd. Got some pretty bad knee twinges towards the end. Fingers crossed touch wood and everthing else good luck related I've not done something to it.
Massive props to Sainsbury's and Sparky doing a half in those times. Ridiculously fast

Decided to up my milage today. Bad idea as I had too much wine, limoncello and whiskey to drink last night. And not much of a breakfast. First 7k went fine, then i started throwing up in my mouth, at 9k something odd happened in my left leg, it just gave way. Then my right leg decided to do the same so had to walk the last 1.5k home. Anyway, added 1k to my normal 9.5 so at least something to be happy about.
Fuckloads of lunch and a kip to follow.

Amazing what a little sunshine can do for this old bird!
I finally managed a run with the Club and whilst it was slow one with the 'one hour run' group it felt great. I really must remember sunshine doesn't necessarily equal heat and windproof gloves are better than woolly ones.
Food, shower, short kip then bike cleaning.

30k in the sun turned to 25k in the wind, then 20k getting cold. New route though, from Greenwich to the Thames Barrier, which I shall probably be doing again.

Managed to do a solid 16 miles today. However I got home, showered and had to get some milk from the shops and ended up spraining my ankle on a dodgy drain cover! Bastard. Now I can't even put weight on it.

You're all mental runners. Big props to y'all.
Ran my first half marathon in Brighton today. Felt pretty comfortable throughout and probably could have given it more, but delighted with my 1:47:17.
Only went on 3 x 10ks as training but I think I'm hooked on this running malarkey. Glorious weather, fantastic crowds, and great atmosphere definitely helped.

32/45 today.pants.good prep for next event there though.tough terrain and legs look like they've been flamethrowered by the gorse...
Anyway served my purpose as one of the firstaiders walking a competitor out with a sprained ankle.still a fantastic day on Agglestone heath though. -

Tw2 you ran 45k?!!
Hobo, bad luck, hopefully it's just a minor one and you're already better?
Chung that's a bloody quick time off not a lot of training! Well done!
J.m.f. I still don't understand what that says, but sounds like you we're running and being a good Samaritan at the same time!

in English for you- I did the race, trashed my legs in deep gorse then went back to act as club first aider and had to walk out a Danish women who sprained her ankle.

Tw2 you ran 45k?!!
Ha - not even close. I started out on a 30k route which became a 25k route as I turned back early, which became a 20k route when I just walked. -
