Someone got me ankle weights for Christmas. These things are meant to be dangerous though aren't they?
I guess they may stress the knees. I wore them for both touch rugby, and long runs before I wore mine out. Did'nt kill me.
I've ordered some nice looking winter trail shoes. Should fit and ride like my Roclites. But with added ice grip. My new headtorch seems to work well too.
Let it snow etc.

9.2 miles in 64 minutes earlier, chuffed - longest run i've done so far.
Legs hurt.

Nope. But they are steel carbide so will last. Not as extreme as some I looked at, but I'm not a fan of the feel of studded tyres or shoes. So look to use a minimal number of studs.
RRP of £120.
Or £45 here....

phew! deal. They do those in a red/black/grey too that have a flap over the laces- very popular with my bog trotting friends.
They should do you right in the snow SF
black and yellow always look the bomb IMO

I'm sure they used to do those mental Mudclaws in a studded version too. Still, cant argue with 45 notes.
The genius bit will be the little Inov8 gators I'm getting too.
My current GTX Roclites have a little hole in the toe. When its fecking cold out, and my feet are happy in gortex shoes, and merino socks, I get an occasional cold shock to my toes....sadface
Definitly think 9 studs will be a good compromise. Having done endless miles both on the bike, and running, with the maximum number of studs. I'm coming to the conclusion that having just enough to stop sudden slippage is all I need. kinda like a pair of MTB tyres that you've grown to love, not because of ultimate traction, but because the wash out is predicable.
Did 8km in a blizzard last night. Wasnt as much fun as it should have been. But the post run chilled Xmas beer in front of the fireplace was awsome.

4 toenails finally gave up the ghost today.
3 look healthy underneath, one's black under. It was a controlled experiment to see whether I should have cut away the congealed blood blister that was under the toenail.
Wondering if they're going to be sore in ski boots tmw.... -

I'm looking to get some nike pegasus (had gait looked at, etc) as an first shoe into longer running (more than 5k but probably not marathon mileage). I was wondering whether to go for the shield or regular version. anyone recommend one over the other??
Gait analysis is overrated.
Spend some time running in flat shoes before you decide you need an inch of cushioning and loads of heel to toe drop. Often it can cause much more problems than it fixes.

That's usually what I think when I see your advice.

Headphones for running- what are people using?
I bought these last year, but I find that they don't stay put when I warm up and start to perspire.

The new apple ones seem pretty good. At least they don't get blown out by a strong headwind, unlike the Sennheisers I went out with the other day.

I think I may share some DNA with Dumbo then as I find the Apple ones rattle around in my ears a bit, so fall out as soon as I start running.

One of these combined with the cheapestair you can find, warm and secure.
Finally got out. Did an hour on tarmac / ice, could've worn skates for parts of it. Everyone's happy part from the knees.
Feels good, time for proper breakfast.
