I am just back from a conference in Helsinki. Lovely running near the city. Enjoy your flag chasing.

Had a lovely 10 mile run around Nottingham yesterday only to finish it rolling my ankle on a curb, spraining it. Damn it. No more running for a few weeks.

You still up here?
I'm yet to find a truly lovely run here, but the parks are pretty nice, but they tend to mean laps. -

If anyone's after a place for the Great North Run, we have some left at the charity where I work...
I haven't run in weeks. Too lazy and then too ill :(

Is that the 16th of September? I might be keen.

12 miles, 1.5hrs. It hurt, and I walked the last mile home because I had just vomited, probably due to yesterday's poor choice of meal.

Haven't been running for a couple of weeks, so went out for a 2hr run, ended up doing 5hrs. Happy with that.
Even better, ran into a branch early on, and got some good blood stripe action down my face. Meant I got to do the nonchalant 'Oh, is that little scratch still bleeding?' thing every time a passer by asked if I was ok. Faux hardness ftw.

Could do wonders for the love life.

130km in 12 days.
4 days to go to maintain a 10km per day average.

Good work! I've run twice since my marathon 3 weeks ago and really battling to even contemplate running 'ever' again...

I haven't been running for over 2 months for one pathetic reason or another. Went out tonight with no real intentions or plans but clocked up 4.14miles / 6.67km by the time I got back to my door with no stopping. Nothing ground breaking but still pretty chuffed with myself.

I'm the same with pathetic reasons for not running. Mostly it's simply lack of motivation to get off my arse, which is very annoying because I always enjoy it when I make the effort.
First run in a month this evening, 7 hilly miles in an hour. Must do more.

Ran the 20 miles home from work today, still hurting a bit from Sat. Took well over an hour to hit a groove and feel comfortable, then started enjoying it.
That and the 5hr run make up the sum total of my training for Dunwich. tbh, I doubt it's realistic to work next Fri, then run through the night, day and next night, but should be interesting to try. As long as it doesn't rain, in which case running can get fucked.

Only managed 5k last night as I was playing cricket in the evening, not sure if I'm sore today as I did 5k in 19mins 20secs or the stop start nature of cricket.
Will try to get 15k in tonight but more likely to do 10k.
Matt it took me a while to enjoy running again after the marathon but found that getting rid of any forms of targets or timing devices helped loads.
Steve, good effort shows that in your previous running phase you started to develop so decent technique!
KL you're nuts, but good luck all the same, have managed 30 miles so far and plan to go further, but want to do it in the relative safety of an organised event!

Bit stiff today but only the recogniseable stuff from going back to training. If I can find a suitable back pack in the flat, I may run to and from work tomorrow, about 5km each way with plenty of road crossings for rests. Next I need to get out of the habit of having a celebratory roll up after a successful run.

Muppet here has entered the Cardiff Half marathon in October. I'm no runner. I think I did 10 runs last year between 5 and 9K. I've done about 4 so far this year. Need to get more frequency in my runs as I was doing about 1 a week at first due to the aches in my legs afterwards, but recovery is improving now. 2 weeks without running so I got out at lunch today for a 4 mile run/walk session. http://app.strava.com/runs/11210896

I went for a run at lunchtime, first run in well over a month. I managed to (mainly) keep up with my running-mad colleague, despite my protestations that I might die. She got sick of me towards the end and left me behind.
It was a relatively eventful run: I tripped over a d-lock that someone had left on the pavement, came dangerously close to the edge of the canal, some old drunks shouted at me, a man chased after me to ask for directions and I stepped in dog poo. And despite wearing “blister resistant” socks, I have a massive blister on my foot yet again!
Really need to run more.

Im giving my strained ankle 7 days before I attempt to run on it. It's killing me not being able to run!

Thought about doing hills tonight then decided my 5 day ride to Scotland entitled me to a day of rest. Maybe tomorrow.

Ran for more than 1km just now for the first time in a very long time indeed (apart from a stuttery lap of hackney downs a fortnight ago).
3.5km in 13.22 minutes. I consider my fitness to be shot at the moment, so I'm fairly happy with that. Very slow to start, then steady pace, then slow, then a sprint at the end.
Not sure how I'd cope with much longer though, yet.
In seventy five pages of thread, is there a decent fitness plan (amount of food, type of food, amount of running, type of running) ? I want pounds shed (formerly fit (beauty in the eye of the beholder) male, 26, 93 kilos, 6'4" if you believe spotter, god knows bmi or anything else). If so, Hippo - edit your OP to make it easier for us to find : )
Just banged an 8half miler out in 1hr, training run with Poole runners, bit too much testosterone about for me but had the mind to stay with fast group anyway.
Last long run before the Jukola in Finland Sunday,
Getting excited now.
