  • Back home in sweden, planning to do 5k every other day for 9 days, should be a decent challenge compared to my normal 7k once a week.

Today was a quick run in the forest, met one person in 30mins of running, and finished off with a quick dip in the sea. Prob not even 13°C here, very cold but very good.

Can't wait for middle age to kick in properly so I can move out in the sticks without missing the city too much

  • Went for a short run earlier and had far too many self-inflicted interruptions. Must do better next time!

    Feeling good now though.

  • I don't mind a minute or two of walking, much better to run 10k with a walk or two, than 5k without

  • Work towards the half marathon has been slow (non existent) recently, but I just managed 4.5 miles, which is by far my longest run so far. Was having real bother getting past 5km for ages, so that's progress. Still bloody slow though.

  • 10k in rain with the warm up and down on top,
Getting ready for Finland, if its as bad weather there's gonna be the added joy of the most technical navigation in the forest possible to do, time to htfu for the peak events of the year.

  • You ever orienteer in Sweden Kboy?
Went there for the 5 days in 08 brilliant fun

  • 10k in 42 minutes last night including crossing roads etc.

Looks like I might be able to push my target tri time down below 40 minutes with some specific training.

Now to learn to swim and bike.

  • Friday morning run to work so I can have a fry-up for brekkie. 6.18 miles in 58 mins. I'm ok with that but will try to improve next time, even if it's by seconds.

Brockwell park run tomorrow <--- I may have overslept.

  • First half marathon coming up in 3 weeks, completed a 22km training run in 1:51, felt good till the last 3km, when I ran out of leg juice. Think doing it after work, and no food since lunch contributed. Does 1:45 seem like a reasonable race target time? Think not having a backpack full of clothes, getting lost, and just general race atmosphere has got to be worth at least a few minutes.

  • Seems pretty reasonable and 8 min miles or 5 min kms are pretty simple to get your head around during the race.

Try to start at the right point in the field, don't go off too fast and try to run an even pace throughout, if you feel good with a mile to go try and lift the pace a bit!

    Good luck

  • Long shot: is anyone doing Brockwell or Dulwich Parkrun tomorrow who has a printer at home? I don't have any barcodes at the moment and don't own a printer...

  • Think you can get away with the number sparky, they give you the barcode thingy there, swat I did anyway, have a good one

  • Just found an old sheet of barcodes in a pile of nonsense paperwork a foot high on my guitar amp. Might even venture to a new Parkrun now that I don't have to swing via the printer at work. I'll remember that next time I lose them all though, MF...

  • Yeah you just need your number, tho the barcode makes it quicker for them.

P.s. I ran this week. It was on a track and everything, after I'd run along the Mersey path to get there first. Then it rained, so they sent us home. Then it rained more. It's still raining.

  • Bright sunshine here makes me regret oversleeping. Would have been a good park run. Will clean bikes instead.

  • 10 mile marsh run, mud up to knees, through a river a few times.
    Perfect.
Bout an hour twenty so pretty pleased with the pace.

Same. Oops. Off to velodrome to make up for it.

  • Sunday club run - I made it. A shade over 7 miles in a shade over an hour. Rampant hayfever and wheezing ensured everyone could hear me coming from miles away :-). Lunch then a shower.

  • Anyone got a view on this stuff?

  • Looks like a Japenese shop.

  • It looks like the running equivalent of rapha...

10k to work this morning in 49minutes carrying a5kg backpack.

Am trying to do 10k everyday this week, then 20k on saturday then a rest day on sunday, should help tackle the post marathon bulge.

Did a half marathon on saturday at 5min kms, couldn't believe how hard I found it! 8 weeks ago I could have done it 15 minutes faster without struggling as much...

Amazing how much fitness falls off when training intensity drops down. Few weeks back at a high level and I should be in a good place again both fitness and weight wise.
