Everyone on the train is discussing their training schedules and talking about personal bests. I don't think I've ever felt so woefully underprepared for anything/regretted my heavy drinking and smoking lifestyle so much. Fucksticks.

Slow and easy. Think very very pleasant thoughts and keep the body moving til you cross the finish line.

Thanks to my holidays I've put on weight and injured my back again. Also my right calve hurts - on the inside, next to the shin (I think it's due to the mad pace when I cycled to Victoria to pick up the passport - 50km on a DJ bike with a slammed down saddle).
I'm slow and hurty

Why does everyone say the last 6 miles are easy? The last 6 miles are brutal! Also I do not get on with those shock bloc things.

Did my first 10km at Hertford today. 47.51 and 79th out of 350-400 runners. Beforehand I was expecting to beat 55 minutes and ideally get near to 50 minutes so somewhat shocked with that!

does this mean you've done it?
-
• #3283
Yes. I'm now limping to where I left my bike to assess whether I'm capable of riding home.

hey hey, well done!

Yep, good one. Just don't break yourself down.

Well done Ed and TB. Both put yourselves through something I still have no inclination towards.good spirits.
Now love that rest. -

I bailed on the riding home; I did try, but my blisters were so bad my Sidis were excruciatingly painful. Had to be rescued from the station. Shoddy. If anyone who sponsored wants their money back I will refund...
4:37:02, which is pretty appalling in comparison to Ed's projected time above (and I was doing much better till those last six miles brutalised me) but it'll do. Next time I will train properly.

You did it. You got round. You suffered, as everyone suffers. Anything under 5 hours is still proper running. Well done!

Well done Rosie and Ed! Make sure you take on a whole lot of water (inbetween beers/gin/whiskey...).

Lousy weekend - my first 24hr run, sacked off after 50 miles because I'd been puking for 6hrs and was just sick of being sick. About half my major distance races have been ended by hypoglycemic issues, and I'm getting towards the end of my tether with it.
Stayed to the end - it rained solidly for the full 24 - major respect to the guys who finished it.

To most any running which takes longer than 40 mins is proper running ;-)

Should I be concerned about a blister which is all kinds of interesting shades of yellow and purple?
Apart from that, I don't feel too bad yet. Though I did get overtaken by quite a lot more people than usual on the ride in.

Err, excuse me missy but I know of a few people who would have been ecstatic with that time. That weren't shabby at all. My first marathon was 4.45 and the last 7 miles was brutal. Felt like I was moving backwards.
You done good!
You too Ed.

Yes!
Get foot to someone medical. And I don't mean a pharmacy :-).

Well done Ed thats a fantastic time !
And Tricity thats a brilliant time I was a little on the slower side of things. As at the 15 mile mark was desperate for the loo, should not have waited in line and done a Paula so lost time and then pace maker and took me another 3 miles to get my legs moving properly after that .
So i came in at 4.46
But bloody well did it, we all made the finish line woo hoo !!Must admit though am struggling with steps and stairs today :-).
Does anyone know how big the Brighton kit bags are? Pair-of-shoes sized?
