Knee went on wednesday - suspected (self diagnosed) tendonitis in either the retinaculum patella and or the patella ligament.
It is now iced, compressed and about to receive a double dose of voltarol before the Pilgrim tomorrow... what could possibly go wrong :)

braved the cold early this morning, 21 km done. Was enjoying the sunrise across the canal whilst running and didn't notice a raised piece of asphalt...I now sport holes in my tights and gloves.

Finally succumbed to long sleeves yesterday, but in my defence, I was running 50 miles on trail from Oxford to Henley. Got thru the first mara in 3.35, finished c.7.35, just as the snow started. Good run, relatively happy coming from a low training volume.
Today's recovery session will be in the pub, watching rugby.

can't wait for todays run, unfortunately it's only 3 miles but it's in the SNOW!!
i will be wearing a jacket though, but as KL is now in long sleeves i can probably justify full ski gear, cos it must be COLD!!

Watford half texted last night to say cancelled due to drifting snow. Pussies. But at least I got a lie in. I'm now trying to work up the enthusiasm to get some miles in.
Fell shoes?

10k took just under an hr round wollaton and the uni park then home.
Was perfect, everyone smiling, loads of runners. Feet are a little cold but I'd bought some of those injiji socks as recommended up thread. Really effective and comfy.
Happy times. -

Hmmm... Not sure if to run today or tomorrow. Now's wet, but if tomorrow is colder then there will be ice everywhere.

Run today, you don't get too many chances for a nice snow run. Legs feel ok today, would love to run, but been rushing around doing other stuff and won't be running after I get home from the pub. Last time I tried that I ended up in hospital for a fortnight. don't drink and run, kids.

Knee is not good - Was committed to at least go to the Pilgrim as I was also acting as taxi. My knee felt fine on Friday and Saturday morning so I took a chance and started the race. The first 10km were absolutely fine, we started a about 5 minutes late and by 10km we were working our way back through the field and sitting at a very comfortable 4:44/km average. At about 10km there was a small rise and my knee twinged, it twinged again on the descent and began aching on the ascents. I knew there was an aid station at 8miles so at 12k I passed my gps to my partner (my TP pacer) and stopped and walked into the aid station and withdrew.
Frustrating as my mate finished in about 4:32 (5:13/km average) in about 7th or 8th. It was a fast day out on the North Downs - the winner was obscenely quick in 4:04 which smashed the old course record by over half an hour! Only positive is that I (unusually for me) had the sense to stop before aggravating the problem further - thats the first race I've ever dnf'd despite having had plenty when I should have withdrawn.

Whoever run today - is it ok to run wearing road shoes? I don't have any trail specific ones.
I don't want to find out I'm slipping around like a salmon when fully twatted up in lycra. -
• #2694
Bit slower than usual, a few slips and slides, but no falls. Road shoes are fine.
-
• #2695
No need for anything other than a pair of running shoes IMO.
Put your old pair on and enjoy the sploshing. -
• #2696
I'm about to do pretty much the exact same route - Any particularly slippy bits?
The bits by the river after the red bridge are the worst (the Rotherhithe loop), but you can just run along the road there instead, which is probably clear by now.

Yep, Nike road shoes seem to be the best snow footwear I've ever owned. Good buy boots!
Next week I'm will walk to Wansted Flats and the run a loop around it. Fed up with pavements - full of slushy grey mass, hence very slow 2.88 miles. Well, better this than nothing. And followed by a cool down workout in my local outdoor gym.

yesterdays run, managed about 3 miles this morning, will run commute instead of cycling until this snow clears. Then need to do something about my speed a bit, keen to push closer to 1.30 for a half marathon....

you guys shouldnt be held up by snow for too long.
managed a 6/23 on a 7.6 k orienteering in wool heath and bovington.tank training area if youve ever been near one youll know the depth of the filth! did my right ankle which didnt surprise me since having inadequate tape. ibuprofen tonight hurts like fuck. a year ago i sought pro advice and on inspection the pysio said 'i dont think youve got any ligaments left in there' hence solid tapoing every run.a thousand hours on a wobbleboard wont sort it just have to put it out of your mind like joss naylor says
wasn't sunny and bright on the ride home...... and muchos cuntos on the roads for some reason which helped my homicidal mood no end.
one more day till the weekend then my brother, sis in law and niece are down so next week should be easier.
