I'll be running with my old man and my brother.
The old man was doing hill fartlek runs over the weekend, up 25%ers.

Cornwall.
Cornwall with it's hills.
It's up and down, up and up and up and down, bloody hills.
But the pasty and beer at the end is worth the pain :-). I did it two years running. If you're into medals, it's a hooge one.
If none of the above happen I apologise. I did the Eden marathon last year and the year before and even last year there was a 'reduction' in the goodies available post-run.

i got given the new Garmin 610 as a present, it's great, i was previously using the 205 which was like having an alarm clock strapped to your wrist.
got bike settings on it too, and a 'get me home button' if your running/riding somewhere you don't know, it gives you directions back to the start. -

I aspire to be able to walk 10k when i'm 75, without having to sit down for a bit.
Actually, I come from a spectacularly short-lived family, so I'll count myself lucky if I'm still breathing. -

Have been trying out the Vibram five finger shoes. Was a bit nervous about it, as I have quite flat feet, but thought it might help me correct for that. Seems to be working, but at the moment I can't run more than about 5 miles in them before my muscles get too tired to compensate and things become painful.

yeah, puts you on the front of the foot much more,
can take some time to adjust after a life in normal shoes.
just use the loaf, dont over do it -

Doesn't help that I'm also easing myself back into running, after a few years concentrating on cycling and weights. So my leg bones have to toughen up a bit, again. All reasons why I shouldn't overdo it.

Vitamin C, maybe some lemsip and as much rest as you can squeeze in. Any training you do or don't do now isn't going to affect your pace come Sunday, just do everything you can to clear the cold as best as you can before the race.
