If it's literally 30 mins, I definitely say go for the tempo run for best "bang for buck". 10 mins progressive warm-up, 15 mins @ hard but sustainable pace, 5 min cool-down. Not every time you go out, but weekly, or every other week mixed up with some intervals maybe. You'll be working somewhere between VO2 max and threshold, so you're covering some useful bases for general fitness.

Ran on Tuesday after 4 days off and legs felt horrible even at what should be an easy pace over 5k. The've felt better as the week has progressed (runs of 10k, 6k, 10k). Inverse tiredness? Never stop running?

Just started running again all be it just our local park run which is quite fun. How do you go beyond the 5k I just get a bit bored and find it hard to push on to anything longer then 7/8k.
Runners are a fun bunch all laughs and jokes at the start then serious face until the finish.

my legs kill after a day off. I always think of it along the lines of being on a lads holiday and drinking every day whcih avoids a hangover, then when you have a day off you have the hangover of doom

Some loose, unconnected thoughts:
-while not enjoying large stretches of it, it was one of the best running experiences of my life to date
-can't fault any aspect of the organisation, checkpoints, anything. Everything was exactly what you would want
-ultras are a good opportunity to eat as much as you can, something I didn't take full advantage of
Basically, it was great. I finished at 5:30am so spent all of yesterday feeling very odd, but I could actually run today (I'm not though, discretion being the better form of valour etc). I came 14th in 17:30 and I think I can chop at least 90 minutes off that in future.
tl,dr: I love ultras now?

been on holiday for a few days, not back home until Friday. Already feel sluggish and bloated from not going out every second evening. Wish I'd brought my running shoes with me.

Started a 5k race at 10k pace today, first couple of miles were fine.
The next 1.1 felt like I was going backwards.
Not filled with hope for Ladywell 10000

The adrenaline will get you through. I'm doing 5x1600 this evening as a final big session before Sunday. Friday and Saturday will be dedicated to rest.
-
• #16099
5x1600 done. All under 5:40, which means that sub 35 should be do-able.
If anyone is in South London and wants to come and watch the races start at 3pm in Catford. Get there for 4:50 to watch @doubleodavey, 6pm for me and 6:45 for @philpub.

^ Well done. I've got a new question mark over my appearance at the weekend, having just canned an easy pre-brekky 5 miler this morning due to a pain in the shoulder blade. No idea where it's come from but it started giving me gyp a couple of days ago, only affecting me when rolling over in bed up to now. Maybe I'll get on the Ibuleve and hope for the best. Harrumph!
Thanks - will wait for the manual
Assuming it's a requirement, salamon vest type thing maybe? Or something else?
