  • Anything shorter and babies start crying as I run past.

  • Anything shorter and the babes weep tears of joy as I run past.

  • Getting my run-mojo back! Did a couple of 5k runs last week, knee had a little niggle but nothing to write home about. Accidentally went a bit further yesterday and did 5.6k in just under 25 mins with no pain apart from the good tired muscle kind. Feels good but I've lost so much fitness. Time to get back onto a proper training plan!

  • Heavy legs (still). 12k run home starts in just under an hour. Joy.

  • Racing over 2 miles tonight. Think it's the shortest race I've done since I was a teen.

  • Well that was painful. 11:30 on an undulating course, room for improvement.

  • I ran around the local park, then chased my shadow for a while, along the river bank, round the biblioteque nationale, over the river, round Gare du Lyon (shit hole), back along the river, round the ille de la cite, and had an icecream.

  • Heavy legs (still). 12k run home starts in just under an hour. Joy.

Legs very heavy by the time I got home, but a short spin on the bike seemed to loosen them up enough for an hour of 5-a-side football.

Even heavier legs this morning, but today is a rest (and stretch) day before I extend my commute to an 18km run tomorrow morning (gulp).

  • I am still massively struggling to get running post marathon. Tips?

  • Does anyone here run regularly around the Peckham Rye/Nunhead area?

  • I am still massively struggling to get running post marathon. Tips?

You don't get any fitter (or faster) on the sofa.

  • No route, no gizmos. Just go run steady see what happens.

  • Get someone to drive you 10k from home, with nothing but your running kit, you'll soon want to run again.

Or take you to the safari park and get out the car in the lions enclosure.

  • I've actually done something similar. I've moved to somewhere 5 miles from the nearest anything-much, where there are no paths and the roads are full of speeding maniacs and there's a giant manure farm halfway between my house and the next town that makes dawdling less than attractive.

  • Just run as far away from home as possible, you still have to get back, whether you're loving it or not. Bring a pound for Lucozade (79p on offer) and a pack of Space Raiders if you get into trouble.

  • I think I did this when I was 8.

  • Going to try this one.

And also going to watch some decent athletes for some motivation. Highgate harriers night of 10,000m pbs tomorrow. Should be good.

  • Is that at Parly Hill track? 100m from my house, might go along.

  • Yes. That's the one. The final race of the night is going to be rapid.

  • Do say hello - I'll have a freshly clipped cavapoo doggie in tow. You can't miss me, I'm incredibly handsome.

  • Still on the injury bench, booked in to see a physio on Thursday to try and diagnose what's wrong. I've run a couple of times since London and it's still painful but gets no worse and doesn't hurt at all once I've stopped.

It's confusing me as although it's not nice to run with, it doesn't seem to aggravate it and I wake up the next day with no pain at all. If it was a groin strain surely I'd be waking up barely able to walk ?

  • I've just finished the Royal Berkshire 10k in Reading - http://www.royalberkshire10k.com/ . It was a very well run event on a flat course - would recommend. I got a (Strava) PB, but am waiting for the chip times to be uploaded to their website. I often wonder why it takes (apparently to the impatient like me) so long to get the results out ...

  • Email from VLM about ballot entry.

247,069 entered the ballot, 55% have never run a marathon before.

How many ballot places are there?

  • unless it's increasing in size with the new system i'd say 15k conservatively 20k optimistically. GFA, Championship, Charity & Free places to local boroughs/police take up the lion share I believe.
