Missed training tonight because of a pain in the arch of my right foot, I think its my plantar fasciitis. Anyone had issues with that?

The golf ball trick works perfectly for me.

Last official race of 2014 for me today. 10k and set a PB by almost a minute.
That 3 PBs in a week: 5k, 10k and 10M. Maybe I should run my first marathon distance just to set another...

Made top 1/4 at SOTF only as one of my team mates was very good at boosting folks over walls, triceps and abs are in tatters today.
Made me realise lack of swim these days means upper strength is v.poor.

I'm same except "son", "swimming lessons"... And of course next free Saturday is after office Christmas party... So more likely one before christma... Hmm probably after new year! :-/
Can someone remind me whet the pain just below the knee is again?
-
• #10009
My just-below-the-knee pain turned out to be bone stress. Sounds pretty hardcore but it's just the build up before you get a stress fracture. Rest and calcium+vitamin D supplements should fix me up.
But you're probably talking about something else I guess?

Balls... That is totally possible. Pain started after long (8 mile) run and I'm pretty heavy... :-/
The answer was always going to be rice! :-/

Knee pain could be so many things though, hip, back, or ankle issues can present as pain in the knee, as well as an actual knee injury. Best thing to do is get to your GP or a physio for a proper diagnosis.

Couch to Hackney Half marathon
24 weeks and counting.

nice one. Hackney half was a tough run this year. hopefully the weather will be much more forgiving next year.

7.5k today and 5k time down to 26:43.
All set for debut run to work tomorrow. 7.5km gets me to the Boris Bike station by the Lister Hospital and I'll do the rest by bike (don't want to push the running and pick up an injury).

7.5km this morning to Chelsea Bridge. Felt much harder with yesterday's run in my legs. Had to fight the "fuck it, stop running, get the bike/train or just walk" feelings for quite a bit. No records (no great surprise) but much smugness.
Will see how it affects 5-a-side football tonight.
Currently trying to avoid "EAT ALL THE THINGS!" until midday.

I know what you mean about "EAT ALL THE THINGS!"!!
I did my usual run today (15km) with a turbo session from last night in the legs. I somehow did the run faster than usual, and now feel totally fried. Constant cravings for sugary starchy stuff.
In 48 minutes, it is lunchtime. No later.

Yep, my wife ran it this year. I had planned to see her somewhere around the course and then meet her at the end, but ended up cycling round the whole course, dropping water off to her at various points as it was so hot and they only had two water stations.
-
• #10020
the signs for the water stations were in the wrong places (as were the mile markers) so at one point I saw a sign saying "water station 500yds" and it was 20m round the corner tucked on one side so you'd completely miss it if you were on the outside of the bend and be wondering where the water was 500yds down the road with another 4 miles to the next one.

Didn't hamper it at all, legs had felt heavy during the day but felt fine by the start of the game (5 minute boris bike journey helped). Ran a little less than usual during the game but we were romping to victory so no need to push too hard.
Saturday morning free again so I'll do my second Wimbledon Common Parkrun and see if I can push myself a little harder this time.

Bit slower, but I blame that on a slower start as it took a while to pick my way through the field to get amongst the people running my speed (need to get better about positioning myself at the start, still worried I might go too far forward and hold up faster people. I'm nice like that).
14min/13min split, will aim for 13.5m/12.5m next time if I can. A frost would be nice to harden up the course as it is very boggy.
80km for November. (Aiming for 120km in December if all goes well).

That's a big monthly increase you're aiming for no? General rule is increase in smaller increments to allow adaptation, reducing injury risk.

Suffering from knee pain at the moment. I'm hoping it's just from coming off my bike and bashing my knee up, but that was a week and a half ago now so I'm starting to get a bit concerned it's something else. Had to shorten a nice sunny trail run to 3 miles today because of it.
-
• #10025

Not really. Not more than 10% increase in distance per week.
1+(1.1)+(1.1^2)+(1.1^3) = 4.641
(1.1^4)+(1.1^5)+(1.1^6)+(1.1^7) = 6.7956.795/4.641 = 1.464
With a few extra running days in December (compared to November which was weekend heavy) 80km can become 120km the next month easily.
Sorry, I was hoping to make it but then got embroiled in attempting to contact errant coppers.
