  • I agree with all of these statements. Clarke: take note.

    Well done Chaps.

He said something the other day about the DRS which showed a fundamental misunderstand of it's purpose. Like Ponting, he is trying to use it as a tactical tool but missing the fact that it's purely there as a method to reduce the number of incorrect umpiring decisions, not something to ask for just because your favourite batsmen gets out!

  • the attack is ok apart from Finn's performance, the selectors will look at that im sure. The batting was poor on the first day better on the second esp Bell who made this win possible with his ton. Things are ok but agree they need to step it up.

  • Team wise, they just need to reduce the amount of rubbish they serve up. A couple of Finn's spells and the two Yorky boys not really making it count with t'bat.
Otherwise everyone else is looking nearly ready. We could replace Finn or even Bairstow with Bresco but I don't think they will.

Did you know, England have never lost a test in which Ian 'Belly' Bell has made a century?

Yes TMS mentioned that. And he made has 25 Centuries?

  • Bres always puts in a full hearted performance, And I liked Chris Tremlett but not sure how fit he his.

  • And I liked Chris Tremlett but not sure how fit he his.

Still not fit IIRC. Better than Finn, able to bowl long spells of akward length and can extract bounce where there is none.

  • Bresnan would have been great in that game. Not so sure about at Lords but sounds like the pitch might be similar. Finn nearly handed that to them by giving away runs. He doesn't threaten often enough on good wickets to be worth 5 an over.

  • To really win convincingly, teams will have to post big totals and not take too long about it. Maybe not so easy on these wickets.

  • Why? It's a five day game not T20. Taking 20 wickets is the crucial thing and England almost failed to do that.

  • Why? Because big totals usually take a long time, and that can often mean a draw when met with resistance, which both sides have in spades.

So they should drop Trott and put Eoin Morgan in at 3? What about bringing that Freddie Flitcroft back in? He's pretty much the best right?

  • what?

Big totals aint essential but they give you safety to try things to get the opposing team out, thats the beauty of test cricket you need to balance a sharp attack with strong batting.

Team been announced for the next test no change so Finn has been given a chance, Im sort of gald as he can be a quality bowler as he showed in India where he was brilliant.

  • The squad has been announced, not the team. I suspect Finn will make way for Bresnan. Looks like it will be a dry, flat track at Lords and Bresnan does reverse it. Bit harsh but I think Finn will benefit from a spell playing county cricket to find some rhythm.

I don't think you really understood what I said at all.
    Never mind.

  • No, it's important...

  • Oh go fuck yourself.
More important things are happening, like Punter Ponting being brought back to replace Ed Cowan.

  • Anyone watching the Kerry packer thing?
