Very odd to see Cook out from a wide swing several times recently.
SA attack just a step ahead more or less the whole series.

England openers having a mare!

No-one expected anything less!

251 for 3 and Pietersen out for 40. Am I the only one who thinks he should have given up test cricket instead of T20 and ODI?
hmm i think he made the right desision test cricket is a bigger challenge and he such a tallented cricketer it would be a waste to just play thrash about cricket.
good day for England after the wicket in the 1st over
How things change in the space of 4 weeks...
On a more serious note, KP still hasn't convinced me that he should be considered a top test batsman.
It's been a great series and oh such a shame that there were only 3 tests as a 5 test series would have been interesting to watch, no idea why they didn't opt for it other than that it would interfere with the Olympics.

Ridiculous to have the top two teams in the world only play three tests. Not sure it would have affected the outcome, but still.
Why are we playing loads of one-dayers against Australia? Meaningless.
Strauss needs to go away and have a good look at himself this winter. I'd like to see a decision taken after India. Need to make make a call on KP too. Personally, I'd have him in. He's such a loud mouth he'll probably be able to disrupt the team from the outside anyway.
Fair play to South Africa. Kallis has been unreal.

^Kallis is unreal, in general. I went to the headingley test and was surprised how fast JK's bowling looks from the stands.
Strauss retired from all forms. a lot of top batsmen retiring around now. i don't think we'll see so many in the next generation

Good captain Strauss. Humble and able. Good communicator too
Will be missed. Now who's next in line? Cook? -

"this is a Jekyll and Hyde performance from England today" Said Vic Marks.
Good description of the contrast between Englands 2 innings. Good to see Compton performing partnering the amazing Alistair Cook. Probably a lost match but at least we have some fightback
-
• #2566
We should have our test status withdrawn.
-
• #2567
Not after captain cook's heroic performance today. We'll lose the test but at least showed some mettle in the 2nd innings

Worth listening at the moment.
India on the back foot.
Eng ended 1st inning 86 ahead. India already 2 down

Not tense. 7 down -

Been riding all morning so didn't see anything but this is set up to be an absolute ripper of a Test match.
India could still get a decent lead, but something tells me they won't. And then I think England are going to have to work their bollocks off and bat in a very clever way to make sure they're out of sight. The wicket is only going to get harder to score on.

Definitely India's day. Shame about Dhoni getting out on 99. He deserved the ton. Nice flurry of wickets at the end for england. Match could still go either way. Great test, great series. Shame there's only 4 matches
