Andy's first suggestion is a good one. That's how I managed to get involved initially and was made up.
There will always be 'for and against' issues when other league players sub in.
If the league is to be taken more seriously then I can see why teams would be unhappy with certain players going up against them.
Depends how serious you guys want it to become.
I'll play anyone. There's good players who aren't in teams yet.
Hopefully more teams will come along for the next league too. Will everyone be sticking to their teams or entering the transfer market?
Will we see our first valued player?

And Matt, I am really serious in my dissappointment. The rumors were pretty much saying you lot bullied LC and actually chose their sub for them. I'm not only disappointed that you guys would do that but that LC and everybody present would stand for it, that's not on, the first rule of the league is that it's owned by the players.
Now that the light has come out it's not as bad as it seemed and this has possibly brought about another topic to work out for the next league guidelines.
I'm curious if you guys would have kicked off if Yorgo and I had chosen Brendan, Aidan or Dave as our sub in our game against Malice?
what, i'm better than those hacks!!just push aidan to the right side of their goals and he's shit.

My point being that those hacks are at the top of the standings and were at the time as well.
You weren't a league player, just an ex-semi pro. -

i just read through all this, and I have to say, the attitude of MI towards aidan subbing sucks, if aidan turned up as a sub for any game, I'd happily play the game. That's the rules. This constant bitching from MI about rules is getting tedious, you guys are close second in the league, just let it go, broken record.
polo is supposed to be fun. you guys throwing a wobbly every time you don't get what you want is spoiling it for the rest of us.

I formally registered a complaint with Sarah, and then I said they can do whatever they wish.
I suggested that I didn't think it was cool from a gentlemanly point of view, to choose a sub from the first ranked team to play for the bottom ranked team against the second ranked team. I don't think top teams should lend players to be subs. And I would register the same complaint if Zombie tried to get someone from BAD to play with them.

This is bullshit. No-one was bullied, Sarah, i'm sorry if you feel that way but there was a discussion, not bullying. And how the fuck could we have chosen a sub for them and made them play? You're right, we wouldn't do that and everybody wouldn't stand for it, and that's not what happened. We made a case as to why we were unhappy and they agreed to play someone else. Then half way through the second game when it was apparent we were kicking their ass hops had a strop. Which she is now over.

Maybe. Like Rays question earlier as to whether we would have kicked off if they'd chosen you Mike; the situation dictated the reaction. When we played you and you chose Dale it felt fine, he's a neutral, there's no competition between us in the league and at the time it was quite open. Now we're in a different situation, there are lots of team within a few points of each other and a few goals may make a difference. When Matt heard the proposed sub was Aidan he said he felt it wasn't right and decided to voice it.
It's a lesson for the next league, which i think should be seriously considered. I know we don't want lots of rules. And i don't think you need to rank players; it's easy to see which team is higher or lower in the league and i think that would be a good way to decide.

Anyone can sub. End of.
Polo.
As tomasito says, they are the rules of the current league. If you don't like them, don't play in it.

It's not about Aiden. It's about whether teams that sub should get a substantial advantage by subbing. I just made a suggestion in a conversation that lasted about two minutes. And -- I will repeat for the last time -- I said after our objection was raised that they could do whatever they wanted to. There was not a problem voiced until the end of the second game.

no i don't miss the point, you do.
I couldn't care less about the 'rumour' that you bullied los conos into changing their sub. They did change their sub, and they needn't have. The rules are that anyone can sub for anyone else. This may well change for the next incarnation of the league, which I am not concerned with here. Maybe you should start a thread about the 'official' rules for the League 2.0.
My point is, the bitching and moaning is so so so boring. And I can imagine that Sarah felt obliged to change subs because of incessant whinging, and aggressive tones. Though of course I may be wrong as I was not there.

You make it sound like Malice were beating me up! No, I felt like I was being told what I can and can't do in something which I am meant to enjoy. Bullying was the wrong word and I'm sorry for causing all this shit.
But, the reason I was annoyed, is that we tried to postpone (with only 2 hours notice) and when I made the call with Iain it was stated and agreed that Aidan was the sub. It was on those conditions that I called Ali and begged her to come south and play the quick game.
I owe apologies to Iain, Matt, Ali and Robb.

FFS, anyone can sub, that's the rule at present. By all means, try and change the rules for the next league, as I have just said. But right now, that's how it is.

I'm sorry boss. I will never question the rules again. All existing rules are good and right and perfect.
I love you to.x
