  • hah! maybe worth giving the post office in NI a call with the tracking number and see if they can find it for you?!

langley is the royal mail distribution centre next to heathrow, which is where mine is according to the RM track and trace website.
i doubt they'd then freight it to NI unless the sender has put the wrong address on the parcel?

  • I don’t seem to be able to get any information (regardless of tracking website used) post the 11th July in Shenzen.

  • It would be shame if these don’t turn up.
But I’m struggling to understand what benefit there is to the seller here if none of them turn up?
Surely the fact that a tracking number was provided means that something is actually in transit!?

Amazon refund policy is pretty good, theres no way the seller gains anything if amazon issue refunds!

It’s all a bit strange but I’m quietly confident something will turn up… might well be an empty box though.

  • Does it enable them to hold (brief look at the members here commentating) £300 cash for nearly a month? If you set up automated ways to replicate a scam like this many times over, could you benefit from the interest, or simply liquidity/cashflow in a business?

  • I don’t think so either. My tracking says it’s back in Guangzhou!

  • benefit from the interest, or simply liquidity/cashflow in a business

That’s certainly within the realm of possibility, but if that was the angle, you’d think they’d go for something other than a £60 inflatable boat! Their bank accounts must have a considerably higher interest rate than mine.
A plan like that would be more effective with something that you’re likely to sell many hundreds or thousands of.

The tracking events are odd but I’d guess they really mean that it’s been ‘delivered’ to the UK logistics partner that will carry out the final leg of delivery.

  • uk border agency

    Nigel Farage?

  • Parcelsapp.com reckons mine arrived in New York just after midnight!

  • Parcelsapp.com reckons mine arrived in New York just after midnight!

    😂 WTF!

  • I’ve googled “China post tracking” and papped the tracking no into a few of the sites that come up and the ones that display anything all seem to be saying it’s in New York.

Amazon itself now just saying “Flight containing package has arrived.”

Could it be that there’s some way to attach multiple tracking details to one parcel so they sell kayaks too let’s say, 100 people, gives them £6k. Send out 3 or 4 of them (or at least 3 or 4 of something) with 25 or 30 tracking numbers attached to each, costs them £10 or £20. 96 people don’t get their kayak of which what, 50% bother to claim a refund? £2880 in refunds plus £20 on the few you did send out = profit of over £3k.

  • Worst part of it all is that I’ve been looking forward to getting a kayak and think I’m going to have to start searching eBay for one now!

  • @TotalShanner
2 for me and at least a dozen of my pals on a couple of WhatsApp groups, plus some on here (we're at 25ish), and if any on here spread the word may well be 50-100 or more just from one heads up. I noticed the seller quickly went to 'number 1 in kayaks' so I guess we could be realistically looking at thousands or even 10s of thousands of sixty quids. A couple of years ago someone on here posted something similar for Makita Impact drivers very import type thing with the suggestion being 'these likely won't turn upland if 1-2% of the purchasers forget to claim through eBay in 6 weeks time it says it'll be delivered, it could be a significant amount of money.'my guess is it's the same sort of thing here

  • I fucking bought one of the makita grinders that time too. Should have learned eh?!

Actually, someone I work with bought one a bit later and did get something but he says it was clearly fake and burned out after a couple uses.

  • Yeah this all definitely plausible. Banking on some people not chasing up a refund could net some cash, but on amazon, the refund process is so easy and swift that it's hard to imagine many folk not bothering.
It's a sad cruel world and I won't be very surprised if this does turn out to be a scam, but I'm still hopeful for a happy ending.
Fair enough the one thats in New York is hard to put a put a positive spin on... maybe its just taking the scenic route? But the one thats apparently in Northern Ireland, I'd give them a ring and ask if the parcel feels heavy enough to have an inflatable boat inside it!

Can any of you see the seller details in your Amazon order history?

  • Wondering if this needs its own thread?

  • Aye that’s the same brand, just a two seater version. That’s kind of reassuring.

I reckon we’re all worrying over nothing and should organise a massive lfgss kayaking trip to celebrate when they all turn up.

  • Worst part of it all is that I’ve been looking forward to getting a kayak and think I’m going to have to start searching eBay for one now!

This was hanging around abandoned in Manchester earlier.

  • Ha, unfortunately not my picture.

  • Can't wait for the documentary about this. Thoroughly invested.

  • https://www.marketwatch.com/story/this-feels-like-a-scam-third-party-seller-admits-to-stealing-1-3-million-from-amazon-in-elaborate-fake-sale-and-refund-fraud-11647968698

perhaps this is similar to how this kayak scam is working?

    • the seller offers items cheaper than usual generating multiple sales
    • seller sends random parcels to incorrect addresses to generate tracking numbers
    • shipping takes long enough for Amazon to pay seller before refund requests come in
    • seller closes account and disappears with the money leaving Amazon to pick up the refund expenses

the tracking for my order shows it is due to be delivered today from the local sorting office in Glasgow (I live nr Leicester)

oh well! it was still worth a punt!

  • Mine has apparently landed in New York and headed out to delivery in Carolina, Puerto Rico. It’s an odd route to Dorset, that’s for sure.
