  • Any Evans cranks updates?

  • i can take it off ur hands, if you want to.

  • Nope, just the order confirmation e-mail.

No dispatch confirmation, but I haven't bought from Evans before so I don't know if you get one.

But no "I don't think so" email and refund either.

Should be here by the end of the week, if it's coming...

  • I'll find something to put it on don't you worry.

  • Exactly the same for me. Called and was told to go to my 'pickup' store and check... Riiiight.

  • The ones I ordered are back up for sale.

  • I ordered the record pista crankset, went to pick it up and it was the lights in the 2nd picture, back up for sale today

  • Hmm, the Miche are back up for sale too.

So where's my refund? Where's the cancellation notice?

It was "Black Friday" and they are ex-demo, so "too good to be true" doesn't wash.

Evans are Grade-A cunts and I'm not going to let them off the hook easily. [apparently I am]

  • Thank you for your e-mail and for providing your order confirmation. I
have had a look into this and unfortunately it appears that when your
order was placed we suffered some technical issues with the website.
The product code is correct for the item you have received. The
Shimano Alfine Single Ring Chainset with Chain Guard that was
interested is worth £62 and therefore I would not be able to send this
out to you. I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to you.

"unless it has deliberately misled customers, it will usually be legally entitled to cancel the order right up to the point of delivery. Whether it chooses to do so is a question of public relations, not legal rights.”

  • Ah!
"The legally binding contract is complete when a retailer accepts an order. However, acceptance does not necessarily happen at the point of order. Even the confirmation email may not be an acceptance. Some retailers reserve the right to cancel an order up to the point of delivery. It is therefore important to carefully check the retailer’s terms and conditions (which must be available on their website) and emails – if a retailer simply acknowledges an order, there may be no contract at that point.

    Oh.
"After placing an order, you will receive an email from us acknowledging that we have received your order for the Goods, and the delivery services you have requested from the delivery service provider. Please note that this does not mean that your order has been accepted. Your order constitutes an offer to Evans Cycles to buy Goods. All orders are subject to acceptance by us, and we will confirm such acceptance to you by sending you an email that confirms that the Goods have been dispatched by the delivery service provider (the "Dispatch Confirmation"). The contract between you and Evans Cycles will only be formed when we send you the Dispatch Confirmation."

  • Ha ha. It would appear from some earlier comments that the University of Google is a bit flaky on this, but yeah, first semester, week one of any LL.B.

  • I thought I'd got the deal of a decade when PBK had their jagwire inners listed at
    -£3.17

I quickly added 100 of them to my basket and about £330 worth of gear, paid the £13 plus next day shipping.

After numerous 'order confirmed', 'payment received', 'picking order' updates and email confirmations the order got as far as "awaiting despatch"
At which point I was at half mast...

Then got an email at about 17:00 citing technical difficulties and cancelling my order ☹

    Thought I'd won at winning

  • Didn't @danstuff manage to get loads of Shimano inner cable off PBK accidentally listed as £0.01 per m?

  • Was even better, - 1p IIRC

  • Tiny 853 Dave Marsh track frame on retrobike. Seems to have been used as a TT lo pro judging by the included aero bars

    http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=337991&view=unread#unread

  • Yep. Endless piles of cables for the grand price of -30p. Haven't used any of it yet...

  • Could do with some...

  • That's exactly what happened to me at -£3.71, only they revoked it and didn't honour the purchase. Mofo's

  • To be fair, given my buyer status at PBK, they probably thought it wasn't worth it for 30p and some outer cable.

  • Yeah I was essentially going to lose them £600. Even if I have spent £000's there over the years I guess i was taking the piss a bit.

  • Sorry if it's old news but there are some pretty good deals on CNP stuff. Just got 100 hydration tabs for £12.50 and 24 bars for £9 https://www.cnpprofessional.co.uk

Couldn't see if they were short date, but I'll let you know.

  • Gonna risk the wrath of many, but do you really think that shops should really have to honour a typo?
